01.01.2022 Hi Everyone, For those anxious to get their hands on Mum’s Old-Fashioned Apple Slice recipe here it is! Ingredients 1 cup plain flour - sifted 1 cup self raisi...ng flour - sifted 125g soft butter 1/2 cup caster sugar 1 egg lightly beaten 1 tspn cold water 8 Granny Smith apples 2 cups water 1 cup sugar Method Step 1 For filling add apples (peeled, cut into quarters, cored & sliced into slices) 2 cups water 1 cup sugar Pop into a large pot & stew till apples are soft, drain & let cool. Step 2 Fir the pastry combine flours, caster sugar & rub in butter, mix in egg & chilled water until it forms a dough. Knead till smooth, wrap in glad wrap, chill for 15-20 mins. Line your Timber Slice Box Step 3 Divide dough into 2 Roll one 1/2 of the dough & put into Timber Slice Box Step 4 Spread Apple evenly over pastry then place other half of pastry on top to crest a lid Brush over top with milk & sprinkle with sugar pop into cold oven & bake on 150 degrees until top is golden approximately 1 hour See more
