15.01.2022 5 tips for maintaining training through the winter months. I often see gyms get quieter as it gets colder, intensity of some people drop off, healthy eating habits fall by the way-side and results start regressing.... This doesn't have to be the case, but I see it every year. Below are 5 tips I hope can keep you on track this winter. 1. Set yourself goals.... These don't have to be massive achievements, they can be small personal goals regarding strength, fitness or simply stricter gym attendance... 2. Change your training up! Make sure you periodise your training or experiment training at different locations, inside/outside, train with different people. Run, do weights, try circuits, high reps, low reps, keep your body guessing! 3. Stick to your healthy eating. Often I hear it's so cold, I just want something warm like a pie or hot chips. But well prepared meals can be heated up and taste better, be cheaper, more convenient and not to mention be hugely nutritionally superior. 4. Reward yourself. This doesn't have to be with bad food. You might go out to dinner and get a nice steak or perhaps buy a new gym top. Treat yourself every so often as a way of acknowledging your own personal achievements. 5. Have fun. Change your mind set. Don't see training as a torturous chore. A task you count down the minutes till it ends. It should be fun, you should enjoy training once you get started or make it through that gym door. Enjoy the process.
