24.01.2022 Following on from previous post, some reminders about what can help when managing pandemic anxiety

21.01.2022 "The impact of colonisation, trauma suffered by the men, and setting goals for a better future are all on the agenda. "It's about recognising only you can make those changes, taking responsibility for your actions", Change Em Ways Facilitator Nick Glauser said."

16.01.2022 Current reading. Not a fan of the term "explosive child" but love the shift in conventional thinking from rewards and authoritarian parenting to skill building and collaborative solutions. "Behaviorally challenging kids are challenging because they're lacking the skills to not be challenging... challenging behaviour occurs when the demands being placed upon a child outstrip the skills he has to respond adaptively to those demands."

15.01.2022 Feels like a lot of change around me, in the world, in the country, in my home town, in my life, in my home. Change can feel scary and unwanted, and we grieve for what's lost to change, even when things improve. People are grieving our way of living, going into the office, working from home, hugging friends, lost jobs, changing lifestyles, freedoms taken for granted. There's a lot we can't change, a lot outside our control. We can, however, seek out the things we do have power over, whether that's what we eat, how much sleep we get, whether we exercise today, reaching out to a friend, how we think about the things going on around us. We have more control than we think. Change your mindless habits, change your automatic reactions, change your life.

14.01.2022 I've been quiet online for the last few months, as I wished to focus on more face to face connections. However now seemed to be a good time to reconnect online and share some resources that may be helpful in this challenging time of global change. This little self care check in fact sheet comes from the Black Dog Institute. We sometimes get so busy making sure everyone around us is okay we forget to make sure we're doing okay. Self care is not me first, it's me too.

12.01.2022 What on Earth did we do before Google???

10.01.2022 "We're not out to feed the homeless with this particular project, we're here to equip young people with particular skills, get them an income, get something on their resumes, connect them with training and they can go out and do that in the real world."
