Our women’s meditation circle is a beautifully held container for truth telling, being witnessed (or not), healing and coming back into wholeness. 22.01.2022 Repost @sprayfreefarmacy I’m currently putting together profiles on our farmers and makers for our new website. One of the questions we ask is What’s your favourite meal? Many of our farmers say something like Lasagne and potato bake, or A good steak. Not this chick. Sarah Lantz from @temptressapothecary is a true poet. Her favourite meal answer is: >>>>> When my two girls emerge from their slumber I make us all a warm, frothy, fatty drink. ...Fat is still tricky territory these days, but it’s this nutrient-dense, primary energy source and prized treat that our ancestors devoured for centuries (and who experienced little or none of the epidemic diseases of modern society) that I covert more than any other food source in my home. This morning drink is a ritual for us. It tells our bodies that it will be satisfied today and have plenty of fuel - ‘Hey body, there will be no famines here you are cared for’. While I vary the recipe, the basic drink is raw milk or a nut milk, cacao, a good heaped tablespoon of cultured butter or ghee, maca, adaptogenic herbs like reishi mushroom or ginseng, cinnamon, and stevia. 22.01.2022 This tired little fellow is my companion Vigo. His love language is balls, socks and undies. We walk through the mountains a lot together. This morning two, very large, burly workmen stopped us to give him a pat, and a precious poetic conversation ensued about the colour of his coat. One of the big men described him as a ‘cassia cinnamon fella’. The other man nodded and then said, ‘Hmm, although he looks more like burnt sienna to me’. We then continued on our way. 17.01.2022 We bow to the cultivation of the vanilla bean which is one of the most labour-intensive of all food crops. Each orchid stalk can take three to five years to produce its first flower, which then needs to be pollinated by hand a process that cannot be done by machine. After pollination, the beans are then left to grow for nine months, harvested, cured and air-dried for another month.
