Livliehood items varied from chickens, candle making, bag making, peanut selling and palmyra weaving. I also caught up with 85 years old Sangariya selling her peanuts at the temple. 08.01.2022 Seriruban was trained in needlework over twenty years ago and now uses her talent as a source of income. She is the sole earner and only carer for her very sick husband. People come to her house, give her orders and buy her work. This pink dress takes her three hours to make and she sells it for 500LKR [$4.80] which is 50% profit. Seriruban generates an income of around 3000LKR [30 AUD] per month which is enough for basic food. With a distribution of materials from Ten for Tamils in September 2018, she hopes to increase her profit and ease the burden on her family. To donate and to help us support more women like Seriruban go to www.tenfortamils.org.au/donate
