19.01.2022 Affirmations as a self care tool One of the easiest ways we can practice self-care is by speaking to ourselves in a loving and kind way. If you struggle with negative self-talk, affirmations can help you break unhealthy thought patterns and anchor in new healthier ways of thinking. ... So a few little tips to create an affirmation routine is to: Think of a positive statement that aligns with how you want to feel/be If you have trouble thinking of one on your own, you can use affirmation cards / Pinterest / google to get some inspiration When you have an affirmation in mind, Write it down! Writing it down helps to ingrain the new positive intention into your brain. Then recite it to yourself (silently / out loud) throughout the day Whenever you notice your negative self talk, interrupt it with your chosen affirmation This can be a really great practice to incorporate into your morning routine so that it sets the tone for your whole day. 18.01.2022 The power behind your language There is so much power in the language that we use and with simple tweaks it can really make a huge difference. This has been true for me when it comes to my morning routine. I used to say things like I’m too tired to get up earlier, I’m just not a morning person, I can’t be bothered etc etc.... You can see from this language i was using there’s no way I’d feel energised to get up earlier. BUT when I changed my language to sound more like this: it’s possible that I can be more of a morning person by practicing waking up slightly earlier each day I’m grateful that I GET to wake up earlier and have some time to nourish ME I love the way I feel when I wake up earlier and use that time to practice healthy rituals How different is the energy behind these statements, simply by tweaking the language! I now LOVE getting up early to have this time for me and I am well and truly a morning person!! This is one small example of how powerful our use of language really is. Other simple tweaks are things like switching I can’t to I can, I have to to I GET to, I should to I could. I’d love to hear if you have ‘language tweaks’ you can practice

10.01.2022 Self-acceptance is KEY to feeling happy, vibrant and energised in your life More than anything else, more than the food you eat or how often you exercise, accepting and respecting yourself no matter what shape or size your body is will help you make loving, compassionate, healthy and nurturing choices Ask yourself "have I been accepting and respecting my body or have I been criticising, judging and berating my body?" ... Most of us spend more time in self-judgement than self-acceptance. But I believe in LOVING yourself HEALTHY. Firstly let’s get clear on what it doesn’t look like; It doesn’t look like rules, restrictions, deprivation, stress, anxiety and guilt (hello dieting) ... What it does look like is; flexibility, mindfulness, nourishment, enjoyment, appreciation, gratitude, presence, fuel, energy, compassion, love How much better does that feel? A healthy relationship with food means your body is better able to digest the food and assimilate the nutrients because there is no stress attached to the eating experience. 06.01.2022 Don’t be fooled! It’s so easy for people to THINK they’re making a healthy choice when buying food at the supermarket when actually they are just being MISLED by the clever marketing tactics! So here are my top tips to avoid the misleading marketing ploys and make properly educated choices so that you know exactly what you are putting into your (your kids/families) body IGNORE the messages on the front of packaging; even it it claims the food is natural / organic /... low sugar etc as the front is designed to SELL Instead go straight to the back and check the ingredients list! Have a look at all ingredients listed and ask yourself do I recognise all of these ingredients and am I happy for all of these to be in my body? make sure you’re happy with the first ingredient as this is what makes up most of the product aim for 5 ingredients or less (the fewer the better) avoid anything with numbers and words that sound like something you’d find in a science lab It’s really important that you understand what you are REALLY buying so that you can make choices that are best for you without being deceived in the process!
