21.01.2022 Tonight, Tuesday 23 April 2019, a Territory Tribute Last Post Ceremony will commence at 5:30pm at Darwin Cenotaph, to commemorate Private Scott Travis Palmer. During Scott’s service he was deployed on four operations Operation Citadel, Catalyst, Astute and Slipper serving in East Timor, Iraq and Afghanistan. After East Timor Scott also assisted with Border Protection with the Navy before his time in Iraq. On the 21st of June 2010 whilst serving in Afghanistan with the Spe...cial Operations Task Group, Scott tragically lost his life in a helicopter crash. His name is listed on the Cenotaph, amongst fellow Territorians who died while serving. His is but one of the many stories of service and sacrifice to be told at the Cenotaph.

18.01.2022 Tonight, Tuesday 9 April 2019, a Territory Tribute Last Post Ceremony will commence at 5:30pm at Darwin Cenotaph, to commemorate Private Richard Davies Hanson. Richard was 31 years old working as a member of the Northern Territory Police Force when he enlisted to the AIF the Australian Imperial Forces in June 1916. He was then deployed to France where he served with the 9th Australian Machine Gun Company providing supporting fire to the 9th Infantry Brigade during the att...ack on Messines Ridge. During the early hours on the 7th of June 1917, the attack on Messines commenced with the detonation of 19 mines under the German Front Lines. The following day on the 8th of June Richard was wounded in action when struck with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was immediately transferred to the 11th Casualty Clearing Station where he died of his wounds. Join us as we honour his service and sacrifice.



18.01.2022 Tonight, Friday 19 April 2019, a Territory Tribute Last Post Ceremony will commence at 5:30pm at Darwin Cenotaph, to commemorate Sergeant Robert Scott. Robert was born in November 1910 in Ipswich, Queensland to mother Violet Scott. He was 28 years old working as a school teacher when he enlisted to the AIF Australian Imperial Forces in Darwin in October 1939. On the 9th of January 1942 whilst in Malaya, the regiment’s position was bombed for the first time by Japanese air...craft. The 2/10th was in action from then on and was subjected to an intense artillery barrage by the Japanese. The regiment ceased firing at 10.30pm on the 14th of February and the next day the surrendered. For the next three-and-a-half years 834 of the men had to endure being a prisoner of war to the Japanese. Robert found himself allocated to the Thailand-Burma Railway camp and on the 15th of February 1944 he passed away of illness. His name is listed on the Cenotaph, amongst fellow Territorians who died while serving. His is but one of the many stories of service and sacrifice to be told at the Cenotaph.

If you have secured your ticket to Overture to Peace already, we look forward to seeing you there. However, if you were not fortunate enough to book yours in time - fear not! Arrive for pre-show canapes and beverages from 6:15 pm 7:15 pm. Reserved seating will be waiting for you in the centre of the grandstand for the show, followed by beverages after the show from 9:00 pm 10:00 pm. Price: $110 adult / $105 concession (plus booking fee) Enjoy a three hour Territory-style stand up cocktail menu with premium beer and wine, plus the best seats in the house between 6:30 pm 9:30 pm. Price: $130 adult / $125 concession (plus booking fee) Territory Tribute are seeking enthusiastic volunteers to help with Overture to Peace. The roles available include backstage assistants, ushers, drivers and more. With roles in the days leading up the show as well as during the show we’re sure to have something that matches your availability. Each volunteer will receive two tickets to give to friends or family if you are helping during the show, or for yourself to enjoy if you are helping out in the days before. And, they are the best seats in the house centre in the grandstand or on the grass in front of the stage, your choice! 13.01.2022 Tonight, Wednesday 17 April 2019, a Territory Tribute Last Post Ceremony will commence at 5:30pm at Darwin Cenotaph, to commemorate Private Edmond Woodward Johnson. When Edmond was 15 his family moved to the Northern Territory where they lived on a farming property on the Daly River. In March 1916 at the age of 19, Edmond enlisted to the AIF the Australian Imperial Forces. Later that year in August Edmond left Brisbane for overseas service aboard the HMAT Boorara where he j...oined the 47th Australian Infantry Battalion in France. The 47th Australian Infantry Battalion took part in many major battles including the Battles of Messines and Passchendaele. It was in the Battle of Passchendaele where Captain J. Brack commended Edmond for his conduct when his company stretcher bearers were killed, and on his own accord, he carried and dressed the wounded. On the 28th of March 1918, during the Battalions final attack the attack on Dernancourt Edmond was killed in action.

09.01.2022 Tonight, Thursday 18 April 2019, a Territory Tribute Last Post Ceremony will commence at 5:30pm at Darwin Military Museum, to commemorate Private Prudencio Spain. Prudencio, or Percy as he was better known in Darwin, was born in Darwin in April 1899, the eighth child born to parents Antonio and Elizabeth Spain. He was a qualified fitter and turner, and was a member of the Darwin Brass Band prior to leaving with the fourth contingent and enlisting to the AIF Australian Imper...ial Forces in Townsville, Queensland, on the 6th of October 1915. During his service, Percy was wounded in action on one occasion, was gassed on another and in October 1917 was hospitalised in England suffering from trench fever. Whilst hospitalised in England, Percy was declared ‘mad’ by a medical officer, however, no further action was taken to assess his mental state. On arrival at Perth, Percy was admitted to the Kalamunda Hospital suffering from shell-shock. Although being discharged from the AIF in Perth in July 1919, he remained a patient at the hospital and on 27th September, Percy and a friend attended a performance at His Majesty’s Theatre where he became suddenly ill. He died in the Perth Public Hospital that same day with the autopsy revealing he had died from a self-administered dose of strychnine.

07.01.2022 Tonight, Tuesday 16 April 2019, a Territory Tribute Last Post Ceremony will commence at 5:30pm at Adelaide River War Cemetary, to commemorate Corporal Reginald Hedley Hillier. Reginald (or Reg as he was known by) was born on the 12th of September 1939 in Coonabarabran, New South Wales. He came to Darwin with his parents in 1947 and went to school at Darwin Primary School. His family says he loved the Territory, so much so that he was nicknamed ‘Territory’ and had a tattoo of ...the NT on his arm. In October 1961 Reg then enlisted to the Australian Army for a six-year term. There are many stories of his bravery while serving in Vietnam, and he was described by his superiors and peers as a brave soldier prepared to take risks necessary to get the job done and to protect himself and his mates. On the 29th of November 1965, Reg was leading his Section in the Vo Dat district of the Binh Tuy Province when they came across an enemy force where Reg was killed in action. He was just 26 years of age at the time of his death and was the only Territorian to die in the Vietnam War.



06.01.2022 Tonight, Sunday 21 April 2019, a Territory Tribute Last Post Ceremony will commence at 5:30pm at Darwin Cenotaph, to commemorate Lance Corporal Arthur Bennett Bardsley. Arthur was born on the 21st of September 1907 in Brisbane, Queensland, to George and Rosa Bardsley. He was 32 years old working as a carpenter when he was enlisted to the AIF Australian Imperial Forces in Darwin in June 1940. During his service Arthur was appointed to Specialist Group II in Carpentry in r...ecognition on his skills within this trade. He was also awarded the 1939-1945 Star, the Africa Star, the Australia Service Medal and the War Medal. On the 3rd of June 1941 just one year after he enlisted Arthur was killed in action in Egypt. His name is listed on the Cenotaph, amongst fellow Territorians who died while serving. His is but one of the many stories of service and sacrifice to be told at the Cenotaph.

03.01.2022 Tonight, Wednesday 24 April 2019, a Territory Tribute Last Post Ceremony will commence at 5:30pm at Darwin Cenotaph, to commemorate Sapper Basil Claude Muller. Basil was born in May 1912 in Chiltern, Victoria, to John and Eliza Muller. He was 28 years old working as a painter when he enlisted to the AIF the Australian Imperial Forces in June 1940 in Darwin. Basil was mortally wounded in Egpyt when he received a bullet to his abdomen. He was evacuated to hospital and on th...e 1st of July 1941 he died of his wounds. Basil was laid to rest in peace in the Tobruk War Cementry in Libya and his name is listed on the Cenotaph, amongst fellow Territorians who died while serving. His is but one of the many stories of service and sacrifice to be told at the Cenotaph.

Browns Mart Theatre in Darwin will play host to a number of films and documentaries curated by Foxtel’s HISTORY channel, covering such topics as the ANZAC contribution to western front victories, mateship between Australia and the USA, and the Bombing of Darwin. The festival will include three days of action across Thursday 11 April, Saturday 13 April and Sunday 14 April, and will conclude with a final day on Anzac Day, Thursday 25 April, at the Deckchair Cinema. 02.01.2022 Tonight, Saturday 20 April 2019, a Territory Tribute Last Post Ceremony will commence at 5:30pm at Darwin Cenotaph, to commemorate Corporal Eric Joseph Arthur Feltham. Eric was born in February 1917 in Hobart, Tasmania to Joseph and Ethel Feltham. He was 22 years old working as a motor mechanic when he enlisted to the AIF the Australian Imperial Forces in Darwin in November 1939. In May 1940 Eric left Sydney for overseas service where he joined the 2/23rd Australian Infan...try Battalion in the Middle East. During his time in the Middle East Eric was recognised for his bravery and his name was mentioned in despatches in the London Gazette. Eric eventually returned to Australia in early 1943, before he was transferred to Milne Bay in Papa New Guinea in August. On the 24th of November 1943 Eric was killed in action.

01.01.2022 Lt. Cecil Northover is a Military Cross winner from WWI Gallipoli and France. He has been buried in an unmarked grave at Gardens Cemetary Darwin since 1947. For the last three years, local historians have been campaigning, along with his family and the Australian War Memorial to get Cecil a headstone recognising his outstanding service for this country.... This has now been achieved and a Military service will be conducted at the cemetery at 10.00 am this morning Wednesday 24, April 2019. 01.01.2022 Tonight, Monday 22 April 2019, a Territory Tribute Last Post Ceremony will commence at 5:30pm at Darwin Cenotaph, to commemorate Private Thomas Snell. Thomas was born on the 6th of February 1899 in Menzies, Western Australia to Andrew and Maria Snell, and was brother to Samuel Snell. Thomas was 19 years old working as a miner when he enlisted underage with his parents’ consent to the AIF the Australian Imperial Forces in March 1918. At the age of 40 he re-enlisted to the ...forces to the 14th Garrison Battalion in Darwin. Less than three months later on the 18th of February 1940 he died from Pneumonia and was buried in Darwin Civil Cemetery. In June 1944 his body was moved and laid to rest in peace in the Adelaide River War Cemetery. His name is listed on the Cenotaph, amongst fellow Territorians who died while serving. His is but one of the many stories of service and sacrifice to be told at the Cenotaph.
