22.01.2022 Wow - so we are now in day 3 of complete shut down of ATO systems including websites, tax agent portals and tax refund processing. How well would your business hold up with 3 days of complete disruption? What would your customers think? Use this as a reminder to look at your systems, contingency plans and overall risk management. To make sure this doesnt happen to your business or at least if it does you have options. Call me to see how I can help you. 07 3279 6902

17.01.2022 Lots of candidates coming along, should be a good night.

16.01.2022 Coronavirus - Employers Each situation is different, but if you are employing staff, then you should be entitled to some assistance. This will come in the form of a credit onto your activity statement account (after 28 April) following lodgement of your March BAS. So please get ready to lodge these. If you owe the ATO, this will offset first, then any credit should be refunded to you.... The amount and frequency of your assistance, will be determined by how often you report your Wages & PAYGW (monthly or quarterly) and how much your PAYGW obligations are. Please see the examples on the fact sheet, or contact us to discuss your situation. https://treasury.gov.au//Fact_sheet-Cash_flow_assistance_f Terry

13.01.2022 ATO Scams - Please be aware that there are scammers out there claiming to be from the ATO and pressuring people to send them money. One of my clients has had 2 calls in a week, but she just hangs up on them. If you use a tax agent, then please direct the caller to your agent, otherwise ask the caller to mail the information to you.

13.01.2022 The Centenary & districts Chamber of Commerce is having its relaunch this Wednesday night. 12.01.2022 Coronavirus - Cashflow - Loans Freezing Repayments - If you are experiencing financial difficulties, you should be able to talk to your financial institution and freeze your loan repayments for a period of time. New Loans ... As part of the stimulus package, the Federal Government, is trying to assist small/medium business by providing banks with security (50%) on loans to make them easier/cheaper for businesss to access. You would need to talk with your financial institution to see what the process is, but we would suggest that, if this is something of interest to you, then you do so sooner rather than later to ensure we can get the required information together. For more details, please see the fact sheet: https://treasury.gov.au//Fact_sheet-Supporting_the_flow_of The above is general information only and you should seek professional advice with respect of your personal situation. 08.01.2022 Accounting Software - there are many choices out there and most do the same thing. Find one that works for you. Personally I am a MYOB guy but can certainly work with Xero, Saasu, Reckon or even good old Excel. It only needs to be as complicated as you make it!

08.01.2022 I constantly get told by people that they are bad at keeping receipts. Well the ATO has brought out an APP to help you save your receipts and record your Kms. Worth checking out https://www.ato.gov.au//In-deta/myDeductions/myDeductions/

07.01.2022 Coronavirus - Job Keeper This incentive is there to help employers to keep paying their employees so that when business resumes then we are all ready to go. Hopefully, this will take some pressure of Centrelink at the same time. The proposal is, for the Government to pay an employer (whose turnover has reduced by 30% or more) $1,500/fortnight per eligible employee to go towards their wage. Sole traders look to have been included in this.... The payments will be 1 month in arrears. Firstly, you need to register your interest in the scheme. https://www.ato.gov.au/Job-keeper-payment/ There will then be a process to go through to advise the ATO of the number of employees and to prove your decrease in turnover. I am sure there will be many questions and different scenarios. Please refer to the fact sheet for more details. https://treasury.gov.au//Fact_sheet_supporting_businesses_ Any queries then please contact us.
