10.01.2022 If you see a koala with a bottom like this (photo on the left), please call us immediately. This is what is known as ‘dirty bottom’ or ‘wet bottom’. The bo...ttom has a very dark rust coloured staining on it and is wet and matted. This is a koala who is not well and needs veterinary treatment immediately. This is Chlamydial Cystitis which is a thickening of the wall bladder causing the urine to leak from the bladder It is extremely painful and if attended to soon enough is able to be treated. The photo on the right is what a healthy koala bottom should look like - lovely grey and white and clean. If you see a koala with a bottom that doesn’t look as it should, please call us or your local wildlife rescue group immediately so the koala can get the help it needs.
