25.01.2022 Tesss must read book recommendation (95 seconds video) "What Got You Here Wont Get You There", by Marshall Goldsmith. As a modern manager you need to be an adaptable leader. You need to be aware of what is going on around you. Likewise you need to be aware of your own habits and traits that may be holding you back.... Marshall Goldsmith takes you on a safe journey of self-awareness. He talks to 20 habits and traits that may be holding you back. This is a must read. I give this book to all my coaching clients and "The Trouble with Talking" workshop participants. Happy reading... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=md992ZlHK7w

24.01.2022 Tip. Make your week better by making time to thank some one.

23.01.2022 Do you have a toxic boss? How tempting is it to tell them what you think? Then... you need to read my summary of Vicki Websters thoughts on Necessary Conversations with toxic leaders. Cheers, Tess #NecessaryConversations #ToxicLeaders

22.01.2022 Be kind to yourself Let some music into your day. It will transform your mood and change your mode. Cheers Tess

20.01.2022 Feel like the world is swallowing you alive? Go for a walk.

16.01.2022 Take a moment to say thanks to someone who has made a difference in your week. It will put a smile on their face and yours. Cheers Tess

15.01.2022 Responding vs Reacting Do you feel the tension building? Take a few minutes to hang out with a friend or two who understand what your day is like. They can help you see the world differently.

14.01.2022 Happy Wednesday everybody, How's your week going? Remember to take a moment if you need. Hope this helps... http://i.imgur.com/n5jBp45.gif

13.01.2022 I love Sarah Magoffin's 5 point simple and practical pre-conversation check list. Recently I have been focusing on point number 3 with my clients, keeping it relevant. Just because your audience is there it does not mean you need to cover everything you have been waiting to talk to them about. If you do, you risk losing clarity of the original reason for your conversation.

13.01.2022 Make someone else's day. You might even make a bad week better or a good week great. Take a moment to say thanks to someone who has made a difference in your week. It will put a smile on their face and yours. This one is for you Peta.

13.01.2022 It is easy to spend too much time looking at what we don't like instead of looking at what we want. If youre complaining, youre not working on a solution. And if you cannot find a solution you need to change your view or learn to let it go. Otherwise it will result in internal conflict which may impact how you interact with others. So. how much time will you waste today on something you don't like or can not change?

13.01.2022 Super excited to have launched my communication focused professional development portal. . https://cohesiveconversations.com.au/ Workplaces need to support their managers to become better communicators, better listeners, to be comfortable and proactive with managing conflict and having the tough conversations. Workplaces need to focus on developing the soft skills of their people.... That is why I designed a communication focused Professional Development Portal helping managers and leaders to tackle challenging situations and the conversations that go with them. Creating a world full of confident communicators

11.01.2022 Recently, 1st Call Consulting, Incisive Leaders and Holding Redlich had the pleasure of hosting Bill Eddy of the High Conflict Institute. It was a day of connection and interesting discourse. We joined Bill for an interactive panel discussion on Necessary Conversations.

11.01.2022 Tired of reacting to other people? Are you ready for a new start? In the words of Fred Durst, "When I look back on my reactions now, I realise I should have just taken a breath". I know it is not so easy. This weeks posts will provide doable tips. Happy Monday and remember to take a moment or two just for you.

10.01.2022 Hope you are enjoying your Sunday afternoon and creating space to chill out. https://au.pinterest.com/pin/334110866080692985/

09.01.2022 Have a great weekend and dont forget to do something nice for yourself.

07.01.2022 The band-wagon effect or group think. Have you ever had a meeting to find out what people think and discovered that they all think exactly the same thing? Miraculous? No. The probability of one person believing something increases proportionally to the number of other people who believe it. Conflict can occur when you dare to disagree. Different views are healthy. The problem with group think you have to be considered when you present a different view if you want it to be heard.

05.01.2022 Happy Friday everybody, How has your week been? As your reflect back, who has made a difference for you this week. Who do you need to say thank you to? Drop them an email, message or call them. It will make their day. For me, a big thanks goes to Martin Lloyd

03.01.2022 Have you ever fiercely supported something because you choose it? To the point where you dont want to know what the problems are? This is called choice-supportive bias. For example, other people might have to tell you that the new recruit you hired, who was so great at interview, doesnt seem to be coping with the job. Maybe they have to tell you a couple of times before you can see it. Next time you find yourself fiercely supporting something ask yourself the following two questions. 1. Are you being objective and open? 2. If not, what are the immediate impacts and on-going consequences?

03.01.2022 Happy Friday. The door is open, plan to do something for you... Go for a walk, get a massage, coffee with friends or catch a movie. Whatever it is make sure it is something you want to do... And be kind to yourself Cheers Tess

02.01.2022 Todays bias is a tough one. Getting to the outcome can have lots of rub points, issues and conflict. And a good outcome does not always justify the method of getting there. Outcome bias is judging how good your decision was based on the outcome. It happens when you look back. For example, saying I know what needs to happen but not really planning, evaluating and preparing enough. But you end up there anyway.... Or thinking you were right not to deal with that harassment issue at work, because the person who complained has left and the problem has gone away. In both cases did you manage, were you lucky or a combination of both?

02.01.2022 I love this quote! Do you currently have a diffiuclt situation? If so, where is the opportunity.
