25.01.2022 Last month some of our awesome team members competed in a Bike Ride held by the Ballidu Progress Group.Thanks to Doc Casely for summing up their experience below; No Thane No Pain was the name of our team of 4 cyclists who participated in the 21st annual Bike it to Ballidu race between the two wheatbelt towns of Wongan Hills and Ballidu on the 22nd of March. The family friendly race commenced at 4pm and involved over 100 cyclists who were either in teams of 4 or raced the... course as individuals. The winner in fact was an individual who did the 35 kms course in 52 minutes beating the first team home by 3 minutes. Our team consisted of Michelle Meldrum (Chief organiser and Team captain), Andre Thane, Lillian Casely and Emily Casely. Doc Casely was our driver and person in charge of team behaviour. The ride was split into eight checkpoints of approximately 5kms and each of our cyclists did 2 legs. Emily took the first leg which included the notorious hill or King/Queen of the mountain stretch. All cyclists did extremely well (although they all suggested more training would be good for next year). We finished about 10th out of approximately 14 teams with a time of 1 hour 13 minutes. It has been suggested that the tutus slowed us down, even though it was a glorious day with virtually no wind. The fun filled event concluded with burgers, a bar and a local live band at the Ballidu park, with prizes for fastest times, best dressed team, best dressed checkpoint and more. We will definitely be there next year, hopefully with two teams!

23.01.2022 Congratulations to Emily for being one of the nominees for Western Australia Young Achievers Award for Community service and Volunteering! She received her certificate from Hon Peter Tinley AM MLA.

19.01.2022 Wanneroo Community Men's Shed (Inc) Thane Conveyancing were very proud to assist the Wanneroo Community Men's Shed with their property settlement which enabled them to acquire new premises in Wangara. Their chairman Des Abbott agreed to show our business leader Doc Casely around after they had settled in, so he went along there recently. He was extremely impressed to say the least.... The premises are substantial with an upper level holding reception, administration office and computer storage. Under this area, the computer guys are all hard at work. The rest of the huge premises consists of a workshop area and a computer dismantling/recycling area. Their website is very informative and maintains that they refurbish computer systems for people in need. There are no 'employees' in the process, everyone is a volunteer. Computers deemed suitable for refurbishment are cleaned and their hard disks wiped of all information. Next, new licensed software is installed. The computers are quality tested at each step and before being provided to a successful applicant. At pick-up time for each refurbished computer the new owner undergoes a short familiarisation lesson. To enable this work to continue they are always on the lookout for ongoing suppliers of suitable donated computers. Please pass the word to your local schools and businesses.
