22.01.2022 NEW AAA SHORT COURSES INTRO CLASSES: October 22nd to November 9th. $20!!!! NEW SCHEDULE:... Monday: The L.I.E. Acting System - 6:30pm to 8:30pm Thursday: Ju-Fu-Do - 6:30pm to 8:30pm Friday: HEMA Exploration - 6:30pm to 8:30pm The AAA is expanding its training options creating three new exciting Short Course series to run throughout 2019 and beyond. As such, we want to give everybody the opportunity to experience these classes before the Short Course series begin next year. We will be running one class a week of each of the new classes for four weeks from October 22nd to November 9th, 2018. Each class will be two hours long, 6:30pm to 8:30pm, and at the strictly introductory price of $20/class (+GST). These classes will run on a Casual/Drop-in basis for now, but they will become six-week Short Courses next year. 21.01.2022 $20 2hr ACTING CLASSES!!!! The Action Acting Academy is proud to bring you an introductory series of classes for our new Short Courses beginning next year. These courses will be six-week Short Courses in 2019, but we are giving you the opportunity to experience them over four weeks this year in a Casual/Drop-in environment first. (Contact us for more details, dates and times) The first class to introduce:... L.I.E. ACTING SYSTEM: Many people get caught up with trying to create the right feeling inside them in order to portray a character. But most lack control of these emotions and more specifically any form of control over their bodies. And because they are so preoccupied with trying to create something they completely miss the point that they have everything they need inbuilt as humans. You see, as humans we cannot see inside others, we cannot see how they are feeling, but what we can see, is how that feeling is manifested physically. You can walk down the street and see someone 100m away and say, oh, that person is happy, that one is angry, he is lost, she is sad, as humans we have it built into our DNA to recognize physicality. So that is how the L.I.E. System works, we create the correct physicality and the audience will instantly understand what we are feeling. Why, because the audience are human too. The single most important thing to remember here is this: you as the actor do not have to feel anything, thats not really your job. Your job is to make the audience feel something. So, actors that spend all of their time trying to conjure up an internal sensation, that they cannot then properly express physically, leaves the audience looking at them and wondering what the hell is going on. This is also selfish, and self-serving acting. Your audience is your boss, they are the ones that pay you to entertain them, you are there to serve them. The L.I.E. System in an outside-in system, as opposed to what most other systems are, that being inside-out. L.I.E. stands for Logically Informed Expression, and deals with the notion that acting is just about being human. When you break it down, what is acting? It is the representation of human interaction. Its that simple. But lets examine that sentence a little further. The word representation means a copy, a duplicate, a fake, which instantly tells us that acting is not, nor cannot ever, be real, or the truth. And human interaction works on several layers, it can be internal within/against yourself, or it can be external with others, or even in some cases the environment. Either way, it is not real. It is like a photograph, or a photocopy of the original. So, if we can accept that acting is not real, then how do we entertain the audience? Simple, we lie to them; hence the anagram of L.I.E. So I moved him from 8m to 5m and adjusted his posture, breathing and some other basic mechanics and this happened. Now we slowly move him back over time. 19.01.2022 AAA THURSDAY INTRO CLASS: JU-FU-DO!!! Thursday. 6:30-8:30pm. $20 intro price. The Action Acting Academy (Sydney) What do you think of when you think Self-Defence? Karate? Kung-fu? Krav Maga? The reality is these are not self-defence systems, they are battlefield killing techniques. Ju-Fu-Do is a simple, practical approach to a very old problem, for the modern world.... JU-FU-DO: As well as 40yrs of acting study, Kyle Rowling also has 40yrs of martial training, knowledge and experience, having started studying both in 1978 at the age of 8yrs old. Ju-Fu-Do is derived from Rowlings life-long study in both traditional Japanese and Chinese martial arts, and is combined with extra knowledge from dozens of other sources he has explored over the last four decades. The name combines both Japanese and Chinese words and is translated to The Way of the Flexible Man/(Person). It is an amalgamation of all of that knowledge, but it is not a martial art, rather it is a Self Defence System. As far as Rowling is concerned it cant be a martial art unless it was once tested on a battlefield in a life and death situation. Instead Ju-Fu-Do was created to fill a gap that he saw in modern self-defence systems, that is, the ability to defend yourself against an attacker without ending up in jail yourself. It is derived of techniques that work for everybody, in any situation without the need for years of dedicated practice. Simple and effective, that is the Ju-Fu-Do way. There are no belts, gradings or trophies on offer at Ju-Fu-Do, just practical skills to protect you and your loved ones. Ju-fu-do, is suitable for every body 18yrs and over. The simple, and honest, fact is that "you actually don't have to feel anything as the actor, you're audience are the only ones that really need to feel". You have to be able to walk into that room and trust in yourself and what you are capable of, and nothing builds confidence faster than good Combative Arts fight work, and no one does that better than the AAA. Masterclass, will combine a variety of elements, including: On Set Preparation, a quick look into the L.I.E. System and how it can be instantly applicable for character building, Fighting for Film Techniques, some Gun-Fu, and then the choreographing and filming of a short intense, one take, fight scene. Those that apply will be sent a short scene, and randomly cast prior to the workshop, you will be expected to arrive with your lines learnt, and then you will be given choreography and direction on the day.
