05.01.2022 CASTING CALL - Student Film requires volunteer actors. One rehearsal in August and 2 weekend shoots in September. If you are interested you can send your showre...el or a self tape to Cassandra - details below. THE RAVEN Four uniquely motivated Vikings set out on a hunt. Astrid a new member of the group is keen to impress her lover and leader Arne whilst an elder member Magnus is cynical of her involvement. When the group encounter a child instead of the standard wildlife or enemy, they are forced to debate the ethics of murder, culminating in a decision that will define their lives. ARNE AGE: 18-40 The leader Arne is determined, focused and a traditionalist. However, buried beneath this is a broken man. He feels he has let his people down. Without an heir he feels weak, his power waning. He feels a great love and affinity towards Astrid but identifies similar weaknesses in her as he does in himself. To combat his feelings, he represses them. At this particular moment in time he is cold and regulated. Going through life as if going through the motions. He simply does things with no great deal of emotion. ASTRID AGE: 18-30 Astrid is tall, athletic and beautiful. She is the quintessential Scandinavian warrior, but also a compassionate and caring woman. The two sides of herself are largely at conflict at this point in her life. A great honour is bestowed upon her. For the first time she has been invited to join a hunt. The recent death of her child still weighs heavy on her mind. She has great devotion and love for her husband, Arne, king of her people. However, she questions his ability to feel after such a great loss. A capable archer she hopes to prove herself worthy to the other members of the hunt. MAGNUS AGE: 30-60 Magnus is the elder statesman of Arne’s closest council. He has the physique of a warrior but is slender and athletic too. Once a friend of Arne’s father and an experienced leader himself he doubts Arne’s qualities. He is a traditionalist and doesn’t agree with the choice to allow Astrid on a hunt. He believes she is unproven and might pose a danger to their mission. Deep down he desires to take Arne’s place as leader of their people but isn’t yet willing or, believes he has the backing to stage a coup. At this point in time the duality in his thoughts has been going on for months. He believes that Arne and Astrid’s child died because Odin wanted to punish them for holding him back. For Magnus the world centres around his ambitions. Cassandra Lionetto-Civa PRODUCER E: [email protected] M: 0439 986 821 See more
