22.01.2022 We are very excited to announce our first trip following the easing of restrictions in Victoria. As per Covid-19 safety guidelines we have received, please note this trip can only take a maximum of 50 people. There will be no exception to this rule and will be taking MEMBERS ONLY. Please find attached the trip to Lakes Entrance by train on 4th, 5th, 6th December 2020. All details can be found on the Itinerary. I do apologise in advance for anyone that may miss out. It is ve...ry unfortunate, but hopefully we will be able to take more members on our future trips in the New Year. As you are aware our hands are tied and we will not take any more bookings, once we have reached our maximum limit of 50 people. We are in constant contact with Daniel Andrews Office, Coach Companies, Motels and the Local Councils to get a better understanding to what is allowed and not allowed and hopefully we can have a second trip planned on the 12th and 13th December. Again we can only take 50 people and Members ONLY. This trip will go ahead if CASE NUMBERS remain the same as it has been for the past couple of weeks at (zero cases). Once we get approval another email will go out to our members that are on our mailing list. If you do know a member that wishes to receive our future emails. Please ask them to send me an email to: [email protected] and they will be added to the mailing list. We are pleased to announce that our 49th Annual General Meeting will be held on Sunday 29th November 2020. From 4.00 P.M to 6.00 P.M at the Sandown Greyhound Entertainment Beer Gardens, (15/25 View Road Springvale) As per venue Covid-19 Safe Plan and Guidance, limited seats will be available and booking is a must. Again, I apologise if anyone misses out and this is for Members Only. Please Contact Rodney Almeida on 9569 6034 or 0407 424 365. 17.01.2022 An update from our president Mr Rodney Almeida. Hello to all Our Members, I hope everyone is keeping safe and well and following the current rules given by the Premier Daniel Andrews. The second wave of the virus is not looking very good for our Victorians, we just have to pray and hope the virus leaves soon.... I hope we can organise some of our functions for Christmas 2020. I am not sure if I will be running the AGM this year due to all the restrictions. I have to check with the Consumer Affairs how or if we must have one and will keep everyone informed. Next year in 2021 the Association will celebrate our Golden Jubilee. Fifty years since the Anglo-Indian Association first started in 1971. In 2021, I do hope we are back to normal, especially doing some of our functions and trips around Australia. Our Golden Jubilee will be celebrated in October and November 2021. At present I am working on preparing a Jubilee Magazine and if any of our members are interested and would like to write a few words about our Association and your experience. Please do so, but please keep it short. I will be happy to publish your words in our Jubilee Magazine. Please email Rodney your contribution to: [email protected]. We will keep you informed about our Newsletter for 2021 and the Jubilee Celebrations as it will all depend on the situation with the Virus. All members who have paid their membership for 2020 will receive their 2021 membership for free. One of Commitee Members Marcus Fernandez is running to be Councillor for the Monash Council in October. Here are a few words from him. Please give him your support. I currently work in Aged Care, operate my own business, and am an active volunteer for my parish - St John Vianney. I’m 37 and live in Mulgrave with my wife Kiran. Monash is a multicultural community, yet there is no voice for the sub-continent. I am proud of my Anglo-Indian roots and want to raise awareness of our community, and advocate for us. While the current council focuses on political correctness, I am proposing to go back to basics. A focus on common sense, family values, and the 3 Rs. Roads, Rates and Rubbish. I am also eager to assist the City of Monash navigate the current COVID-19 pandemic. I have 17 years experience in health as well as a current small business owner. I will ensure we keep residents safe, help business reopen, all while balancing the budget. Please spread the word and like my Facebook page for updates. Thank-you, Marcus Fernandez If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to email us or call me on 9569 6034, 0407424365 or 9798 8483. Kind regards, Rodney Almeida

06.01.2022 An update from The President, Mr Rodney Almeida: Dear All I hope you are all keeping safe and well.... As you are aware some of the restrictions have been lifted by the Australian Government and the Premier of Victoria. We have had a few enquiries about some our coach trips, but due to the Corona Virus still active in our Community we will not be running any coach tours for now. We will always put the health and safety of our members first. We have received an update from the Monash Council about the Oakleigh Hall re-opening. Upon enquiries with the Council for the Hall availability they are only allowing 1.5 hours maximum hire with strict social distancing guidelines. This will also apply to the restriction getting lifted after 22nd of June. For now we will hold off from having any Socials. We do hope to get back to having some of our functions very soon. Please keep an eye out on our website for future updates or send us an email for any queries you may have. On another note, as from the 1st July 2020 we will have a one-bedroom self-contained unit available at St Mary's Retirement Village. Please contact Rodney to apply.
