24.01.2022 First in and first out. Introducing Cinnamon and Honey; our first official adoptees from our new Adoption Shelter. Wishing this beautiful bonded pair a life filled with love, health and happiness in their forever home.

24.01.2022 After over 70 years helping cats in need, we are thrilled to share that come tomorrow (Saturday 14th November), The Cat Protection Society of Victoria will open the doors to Victoria’s largest dedicated shelter for cats. Our Greensborough based facility (located right next door to our temporary facility) includes an adoption centre that can home up to 300 cats, a private feline dedicated vet clinic, an expansive retail store, an education centre and a cafe (opening in 2021). ... This new Facility will allow our Society to help even more cats in need whilst providing the opportunity to engage with the local community and help introduce more initiatives to encourage responsible pet ownership. To ensure we can operate in a COVID-safe manner and take the upmost care of the cats at the shelter and our team, our adoption centre and vet clinic will continue to be open by appointment only. At this stage, public access to the adoption centre is not available. If you would like to express interest in adoption a cat in need, please complete an adoption application at: https://www.catprotection.com.au/adoption-online-applicati/ To make a booking with our feline dedicated vet clinic, contact 8457.6504 Our retail store which is fully-stocked with everything your feline family member may need (or desire) is open to the public (with limits on the maximum number of people in-store at anyone time). Access to this store is via the gates at the front of our temporary facility- just press the door bell on arrival and a member of our team will greet you. To our wonderful community of members, donors and supporters- this Facility has only been made possible because of your generous support and for this, we could not be more grateful. We look forward to inviting you to the Facility in the coming months.

23.01.2022 Whilst 2020 has been an incredibly challenging year, we know that for many of our Facebook Community, it was also the year that you choose to provide a forever home to a cat in need by welcoming a new-four legged family member into your home. We would love to learn more about our 2020 Adoptees. How have they settled in? Have they helped to provide comfort and entertainment during an otherwise tough time? What do you love most about your newest family member? ... We look forward to receiving your photos and updates.

23.01.2022 Introducing the cheeky 3 year old Edwin; a friendly, playful and very curious boy who sometimes has trouble controlling his urges. Edwin gets very involved in the moment when he is focused on something or what he is doing and often forgets his manners resulting in rough play. He is a busy boy full of enthusiasm and a real sticky beak which can get him in a bit of strife. He would not be suitable in a home with young children or seniors dues to his rough playing. He wants t...o be friends with other cats but he maybe too much for most. An experienced home preferably with a secure cat run would be idea for Edwin. If you think you could provide Edwin with his purrfect furever home, we would love to hear from you. Pop in an Adoption Application form at: https://www.catprotection.com.au/cats/edwin/ And a member of our team will be in touch. Edwin M/C: 956000010570425 CPSV Source No: BR100404

21.01.2022 Will you join our Furever Home family and help cats like Lloyd find their furever home? Each year we care for and rehome more than 1,200 forgotten felines, just like Lloyd, who found himself in our care at only a few hours old. Being so incredibly young, the odds were stacked against him. Our team urgently called on one of our skilled foster carers who could provide around-the-clock care for tiny Lloyd, feeding him and caring for him as his mother would have. But at just fi...ve weeks old he was found to have some issues with his heart that could require ongoing medical care. Our team knew that Lloyd was going to need an incredibly special home. And it didn’t take long to find one. Lloyd’s foster carer had fallen in love and couldn’t possibly part with him. The bond they shared was simply too great. Today, thanks to the support of people like you, Lloyd is a much-loved family member (and proud owner of a tremendous tail!). The work we do to care for and protect our feline friends is so incredibly important, but it comes at a cost. Can you help? Joining our Furever Home family and committing to a monthly donation will ensure that more kittens and cats, just like Lloyd, will find their furever home. 19.01.2022 Edwin happily road testing our outdoor enclosure which is a key feature of our new Adoption Shelter to ensure the cats and kittens in our care are provided with maximum opportunity for enrichment and play.

17.01.2022 As is the case with any big move, there is still plenty of work to be done but we could not be more excited to be operating from our new Shelter and the opportunity it presents to help care for and re-home even more cats and kittens in need and introduce initiatives to work with our local community. We wanted to share a few pics of our amazing Shelter for our wonderful social media community who have been following our build journey for so long. At this stage, we our Adoptio...n Shelter and Vet Clinic are open by appointment only. Our retail store is open to the public and fully stocked with everything you need for a happy, healthy cat including food and bedding, flea and worming treatments, toys, carriers, litter products and more. And when you do chose to purchase from us, all proceeds go directly to the care of the cats and kittens seeking refuge at the Society.

16.01.2022 Kick starting the week with a lovely update on the handsome Leigh who has (clearly) settled in exceptionally well to his furever home since being adopted last month #leighjustlivinghisbestlife After spending the first few days hiding under the bed, Leigh (who we’ve nicknamed Qua Qua) has become an incredibly playful, active and affectionate companion. His antics include leaping around the house like a commando, rolling on his back, kneading the air whilst getting patted and teaching himself to turn on the lounge room light, which is operated via a foot switch! The fact that he is deaf has not held him back at all. He was previously one of four siblings, so now he is enjoying being the centre of attention An incredible thank you to Leigh’s human for sharing.

12.01.2022 Are you in need of a Feline-Good Story? Our friends at Rialto Distribution have kindly offered 20 complimentary, double (admit-2) in-season movie tickets to A Christmas Gift for Bob. Based on the international best-selling books, this heart-warming tale is the sequel to the hit film A STREET CAT NAMED BOB, based on the true story of homeless busker, James Bowen and his handsome ginger tom Bob, a stray whom he nursed back to health.... In A CHRISTMAS GIFT FROM BOB, James looks back at the last Christmas he and Bob spent scraping a living on the streets and how Bob helped him through one of his toughest times - providing strength, friendship and inspiration ultimately teaching each other about the true meaning of Christmas spirit along the way. You can watch the movie’s trailer at https://vimeo.com/470448694 To win a double movie ticket, we would love to learn how your cat has helped you through a particularly challenging time or the life lessons your cat has helped you or your family learn. 20 x entrants will be selected and notified this Friday evening (27th of November) via a private message with tickets to be posted out via Express Post on Monday 30th.

10.01.2022 Are you an experienced cat owner who would like to make a very real difference to the life of cats who (through no fault of their own) come into our care and require time in Foster Care program before being available for adoption? These cats may be shy or timid, have behavioural challenges or need to learn to trust humans again. As a Foster Carer, we provide you (and your foster cat) with everything you need along with the support of our Foster Care and Veterinary Team. We n...eed you to provide the safe, loving environment along with plenty of patience to ensure these cats have every opportunity for adoption into their purrfect furever home. If you would like to express your interest in this rewarding volunteer opportunity, please email our Foster Care Coordinator via [email protected] Please note, at this stage, we are not taking in any new applications for kitten Foster Carers.

09.01.2022 We continue to be overwhelmed with the level of interest from people wanting to adopt, which as an Animal Shelter that seeks to re-home cats in need into a loving and safe forever home as quickly as possible, is a good problem to have. Based on the level of interest, it may now take up to 4 weeks for a member of our Adoption Team to contact you following your application (especially if you are wanting to adopt a kitten specifically). Thank you for your continued patience and understanding.

05.01.2022 IMPORTANT UPDATE We are still putting the final touches on our new Adoption Shelter and Veterinary Clinic and are hoping to open the doors by the end of the week. Please note, during our move, our phones will not be attended and we only have limited access to emails. When we do open, Adoptions and Veterinary consults will continue to be by appointment only. ... We will continue to provide updates via our social media and on our website.
