18.01.2022 Remembering today those local residents who served in the 18th Battalion Volunteer Defence Corps - they served protecting assets in Craigieburn and surrounding areas and several of their names appear on our Memorial Plaque for WWII Charles Dennett Joseph Excell David Ferrier Geoffrey Gooch Staley Handebo George Howat John Kernan Charles Parker William Patullo... Christopher Sharman William Vincent The VDC was made up of soldiers from protected occupations (farmers, railway workers etc) who served their country during the hours away from their vital work. If you have family who served in the VDC then send us a message - interested in posted photographs.

01.01.2022 Family of sailors lost on HMAS Sydney II on 19th November 1941, laid wreaths today at a private Service at the Craigieburn War Memorial - COVID restrictions meant that our annual Service was unable to be held, however those lost were remembered - the Ode was recited then Last Post played, a Minute Silence, then the Rouse followed by the National Anthem - Lest We Forget
