25.01.2022 Well The Fatherhood have been quiet for sure, but I do have a video to share from Fleurieu Folk Festival late last year. This one's a bit of a medley around Dave Stewart's classic Sweet Dreams are Made of This. Filmed by our 11-year old daughter, Fionna.

22.01.2022 The Fatherhood update: So we are not in hiding! We've had a break then been busy again. Our last gig was at The Wheatsheaf in December. This turned out to be Sue and Mark's last gig with us. We were sorry to see them leave the band but understand their reasons and their overwhelming commitments to other music and drama projects. More fun times are around the corner as we welcome two new awesome Fatherhooders to the band. More on that in the coming days while I update the website. In the meantime here's a video of the last song we played together in the old-Fatherhood line-up, at The Wheaty.

20.01.2022 This song ... out today by a band I play in, Bards Brew. Its an arrangement of a song I wrote about those good times when we get heavy rains in our southern desert land. https://music.apple.com//where-the-cormorants-f/1524198439

16.01.2022 Not much happening but I am impressed with the 2018 Fatherhood's commitment to practice. We skipped a practice for the Queen's Birthday holiday, but prior to that we've done 16 consecutive Monday nights! So, how do we sound? Well I wasn't going to post this but we did do a quick recording and video just to give you an idea. I kind of like the song anyway. I wrote the opening lines of this song when Brian was in the band back in 2015, reflecting on having an American guy in th...e band but never having been there. I built up an image of visiting the USA, traveling round, staying places and for some reason it was always really cold in my mind's eye... Enjoy listening and viewing. There are many things about it we'd all change, but I do want to start to get the songs back out there; it's been too long. So here goes, and the lyrics are here too.... Deep deep snow in Boston An ocean beach in Maine Lebanon, Ohio Or wild Vermont again Arrive back in Seattle The lonely road behind Sit here by the fire If you feel inclined Laughing in the dark Wood fire glowing red Whisky on the hearth And a song is in my head Going home, going home Going home, with you Going home, going home Going home, with you Have you been to America? And driven the Kansas plains Forests of Colorado Alabama in the rain Flying into Fairbanks Cold wind blowing through Home is by the fireside Home is here with you Laughing in the dark etc

02.01.2022 Yay what an afternoon...
01.01.2022 It's five years to the day since we came up with The Fatherhood's first song "Long Weekend"
01.01.2022 True, The Fatherhood have been quiet, people have been doing other things. But talking of own things I am very proud of a piece of work, originally written in The Fatherhood era but never really developed or performed by the band. It is song I wrote about good times, when you can punch the air because you're so happy, when the Rivers are flowing and spilling onto the floodplains, nature is going crazy and excited birds are fishing and going nuts. I am chuffed that my 'other B...and' Bards Brew, has adopted and arranged the piece, we recorded it and it's been mixed and produced by our clever band leader and keyboard player Barry Timmins. We played it at Fleurieu Folk Festival last year. The song features Anne Timmins on vocals, Tim Saunders on flute and me doing some stuff too. Enjoy, but you are going to have to wait until later this month - see below, and don't forget to subscribe to Bards Brew. Cheers Richard See more
