25.01.2022 Today was our inaugural KBF AGM much discussion and excitement on draft program for the Festival was done, together with some fretting on the number of applications for the Ken Blake Scholarship for up and coming road racers . see previous FB bulletins for detail. More on this topic, in the next FB bulletin. Meanwhile, we have a request for all - Please could you assist us with names of people in this beautiful photo given to us to use for publication ( name supplied upon request)

25.01.2022 Last Saturday, the 25th Jan 2019 KBF won an Australian Day award for the event. We would like to thank the community of Strathalbyn for supporting and making this event a "winner". We would like to thank our major sponsors for their guidance and acceptance of our idea (crazy as they may have been) They are Alexandrina Council, SA Plasterboard , Shannons insurance, Motorcycle Australia ( SA) ,Lake Breeze wines, Little Hampton Bricks, SLTA . And the biggest thank you goes ou...t to our volunteers who made this event run seamlessly, in particular the 8:36s. For our FB friends we would like you all to pencil in the next KBF 25th-27th October 2020. We have already started planning a bigger more exciting KBF for 2020 and we promise to keep all of you in the loop with the various events, displays dinner quests but most importantly the KB motorcycle road racer scholarship. 24.01.2022 Whilst we wait the confirmed details on our revised KBF program for October 2020. I found this interesting piece of information on another legendary hero albeit from NZ that i thought I could share with you all. Hope you find it interesting as well. ML

24.01.2022 Kennys exhaust stinger is back on where it belongs .... Thank you very much Andy for the great job you did putting it back .

23.01.2022 News update : The small but dedicated volunteer team who are organising the 2020 Kenny Blake Festival of Motorcycling is still working towards our original intent: to acknowledge and celebrate the contribution that Strathalbyn hometown hero, Ken Blake, made nationally and internationally to the sport of motorcycle road racing until his untimely death at the Isle of Man in June 1981 We recently met and made the difficult decision in these trying times that the 2020 Festival... will be reconfigured. The Festival, scheduled to be held in Strathalbyn on October 24, will still proceed but with an amended program. The amended programs focus will be entirely on the announcement of the KB scholarship winner . Our plan is to continue to work towards granting the scholarship to an up and coming local road racer , as we have noted that even within the social distancing guidelines we can still organise the presentation and announcement of the 2020 KB scholarship . Thus, we are keeping the cut-off date for applications for the Scholarship open until the end of June and look forward to receiving more applications. We would like you to encourage a friend, family member , acquaintance to apply. Nothing to loose but a loads to gain. However, if the current rules around the Corvid 19 situation change by October, then the full activities programmed for the KB Festival will proceed. As we will not finally cancel the currently booked activities of the Festival ( until closer to the date 24th October 2020) . We hope by then we will have clear guidance from the government around the type of activities which can still go and not . We will keep you posted to the changes of our event ML See more

21.01.2022 Weve just put up a few photographs from the weekend that was. We couldnt be happier with how the festival turned out- and the Ken Blake monument is up permanently on Strathalbyns High Street for all of the locals (and those from further afield) to visit and appreciate. We really are grateful for the opportunity to put on this event and get together, and would like to extend huge gratitude to those involved. It wouldnt have happened without the help of many hands! Namely..., our lovely volunteers and our core organisers Jo and Sue Scheiffers; the stall holders and show-n-shine participants; Strathalbyn Football Club and Caravan Park, Alexandrina Council; our sponsors: Lake Breeze Wines, SA Plaster Board, Motorcycle Australia SA, The Ken Blake Foundation, Littlehampton Bricks and Pavers and our super obliging and wonderful guest speakers : Gavin Porteous, Snowy Ardill, Glen Rose, Trevor Otto, Takara and Hendrik Gout. 12.01.2022 Isnt it amazing that if you really have the drive ,desire skills and tools nothing can stop you . Most of us would say hes crazy or stupid Sandor even reckless but heck he doing it and having fun.

12.01.2022 Another Motorycle event to be cancelled .. 2020 is going to be a very quiet year for wheel racing it seems so far . Just have to revert to replays and dusting off the videos to satisifed the need. :(

04.01.2022 "They don't pay me enough for this " Roberts reflecting upon both risk and outcome of his win. Our KBF scholarship winner, I am sure has already experienced this question in his junior racing career. We are hopeful that with scholarship win under his belt , it will give him more "tools and strategies" to deal with this question. Come and celebrate with us on the 24th October 2020 6:30pm on Kenny Blake home turf - Strathalbyn . Booking is essential. Thanks Marylou

04.01.2022 The legend KB dethroned :)

04.01.2022 Wouldnt this activity be a great attraction for the KBF

03.01.2022 James ( our very fine sculptor ) informed me last night that our sculpture is on the list and voting closes today at 5pm, I know short notice but could you please vote for our Kenny Blake sculpture . Thank you

02.01.2022 The confirmed Moto GP calendar for 2020 for your perusal . Philip Island hosts the Australian round on the 25th of October which is going to be another year when our Kenny Blake Festival of Motorcycling will clash with Phillip Island Moto GP . But this shouldnt be a deterrent for all, as we have catered for those who would like to participate in both events, as you will see when the new improved KBF program comes out SOON. :)

02.01.2022 Just a short news update for all our KBF friends as we acknowledge that KB anniversary is upon us (June 10) . In case people are interested and would like to attend the Kenny Blake Foundation will be having their annual luncheon to celebrate the life and times of Ken Blake in Melbourne . Meanwhile , the KBF team is currently working on the new KB web site , so thats work in progress. I cant wait . And, there is also work in progress on the content of 2020 KB Road race...r scholarship package . Hopefully applications to apply will be out shortly. Lastly but sadly, I have to report that we have had another incident with the our KB sculpture. Another "stinger" has been deliberately broken off the bike. Souvenir collector ? or somebody who doesnt like the stingers ? Who knows but I wish they would stop. However, all is in hand and Andy will be there shortly to weld item back on . Work is in progress with our fantastic Council on the surveillance camera and better lighting, which comes first we are waiting the news. See more

02.01.2022 For your information .

01.01.2022 2 Stroke racing in the sub-continent . When I was a kid living in Madras , my father loved racing and naturally Sholavaram was track he would take us too dry dusty and thick with the smell of castrol. Similar to Mallala both being originally airfields . Listening to this racer recant his story , I thought in reality nothing really has changed except for duration of time : The desire to be a racer stamped and etched from an early age, the sponsor and or benefactor who notices and assists in achieving his/her dream . Our Kenny Blake Sponsorship is all about assisting the dream of young racer . Come and celebrate with us on October the 24th the winner of KB scholarship .Be a part of South Australian history in the making . We still have a few more places for the dinner . Contact Jo Scheiffers 0429676433 or Marylou 0403035266
