25.01.2022 LED Safety Lights An LED strip light only needs a small transformer; an LED strip light can be made so compact that it may only weigh around 200g. This means that they can be incorporated into clothes easily without any extra weight. This could be perfect when used for rescue operation, for example if somebody fell overboard while at sea, they could press a button which immediately highlights their position or LED lights on Life jackets on aero planes for people lost at sea. This idea is already being used on dogs while being taken for a walk or cyclists at night. If incorporated into survival equipment they could mean the difference between life and death.

24.01.2022 Did you know LEDs received a Nobel Prize? Three Japanese scientists have won the Nobel Prize for the invention of the first blue LED light in 1993. The Blue LED light is the basis for all LEDs today, it was a major breakthrough as it was the first LED light that was bright enough to light a whole room, replacing old halogens and incandescent. Up until the Blue LED was invented LED lights were only used for trivial low watt lights in small house hold objects such as TVs and... alarm clocks. The Nobel Prize is awarded to the invention that has most benefited mankind; LED lights use about 90% less electricity than traditional light bulbs. It has been awarded to Shuji Nakamura, Isamu Akasaki and Hiroshi Amano because As about one fourth of world electricity consumption is used for lighting purposes, the LEDs contribute to saving the Earths resource. 22.01.2022 Can you imagine if roads were solar panels? Solar road ways are an amazing new invention that may be the next step in civilization. This is essentially the idea of replacing roads with solar panels inlaid with LED lights and then covered with a tough resin. This Idea works on so many levels as: There is no wasted space (we already have roads)... They can be programmed to light up, and show updates. They can heat up to melt snow They will have pressure pads to indicate obstructions in the road ahead If you could imagine festivals with amazing light show on the road If the whole of America had Solar Road they would produce 3X as much power as they currently consume. 13.01.2022 LEDs, perfect for Head torches! LED lights bring with them a heap of advantages over every other form of lighting; these advantages are accentuated when you put them in an outdoor setting. LEDs last longer and use less power than other lights so using LED lights when camping, fishing or hiking is an obvious choice. LED lights are also extremely compact and give more light for their size and power consumption than any other light, this means they dont need huge battery packs... to last hours or have huge lenses to shine more light. LEDs are perfect for head torches, because: They dont heat up (this is good if you dont want to have the equivalent of a lit match next to your face) Low energy consumption, so they take smaller batteries and last longer Brighter Light for less size and wattage (this means they are less intrusive and cumbersome for the wearer) LEDs Dont need a glass bulb so they are strong and durable They are very bright for their size an LED can have a 10W power consumption and only weigh around 113g (10w is about the same brightness as a 55w halogen light)

12.01.2022 LED Lights in TVs Flat screen televisions initially used plasma bulbs and then moved to florescent bulbs, both of which were not very efficient. Florescent bulbs get very hot and start to fail after a few years; you would pay a lot of money to have a florescent back-light replaced. Now most televisions use LED light bulbs because they last longer and use 30% less electricity. Because LED Lights dont heat up they for allow bigger and bigger Televisions to be created, this is because the LED lights will not die due to heat damage (this is also the same reason they last longer.) LED lights are also so compact they allow engineers to create flatter and flatter screens. LED lights create higher contrasts than any other Lights giving a richer more realistic visual experience than ever before.

08.01.2022 Third world problems you might not know about There are around 1.5 billion people around the world that dont have access to reliable electricity, once the sun goes down these people rely on kerosene to fuel their lights at night. Kerosene is used because these people are using inefficient Halogens or Kerosene lanterns. Old halogens require large amounts of electricity. Not only is this unsustainable for the long term it is also highly dangerous for anyone around, it is estim...ated that the men, women and children who use Kerosene Lanterns are inhaling the equivalent of Two packets of cigarettes a day. The toxic fumes from burning kerosene cause Lung cancer, cataracts, Carbon Monoxide poisoning and respiratory problems. LED lights use less energy than the old halogens currently used in developing countries. Solar panels become a viable form of energy if halogens are replaced by LED lights. Solar panels will be able to sustain low watt LED lights throughout the night. They cannot currently support the inefficient halogens, causing people to use Kerosene when solar power fails. There are also solar powered LED lanterns that can be used instead of Kerosene Lanterns (which are an open flame) putting people at risk of severe burns. "People using open flames as a source of light is dangerous, toxic and shows the inequality on earth today."

03.01.2022 Do you need florescent tube replacements? You can now buy LED T8 Tubes to replace old florescent bulbs. These LED tubes are more efficient than the old florescent as they generate the same lumens (with 22 Watts) as a (28-32 Watt) florescent, this makes LED lights 30% more efficient then florescent lights. LED tube replacements will last up to three 35,000 hours; they also will not break as easily as florescent tubes. For instance an LED T8 tube can be dropped from about 2m and still work whereas the old florescent tubes will shatter into a million pieces of glass and dust at the slightest bump, which is annoying.

02.01.2022 Does your wallpaper express itself? LED lights are getting smaller and smaller and becoming more efficient, this is allowing them to be incorporated into different products. One of these products is wallpaper, LED lights in wallpaper will create an environment that is custom to your needs. These will be great for parties or relaxation, one of the benefits will be therapy or meditation. Interactive wallpapers are being developed to react to sound or touch.

These will be the replacements for google glasses and may someday replace mobile phones and ipods, all held in the front of your eyeball. This is all possible with LED lights, because of their tiny size and low temperature output.
