19.01.2022 REPRODUCTION! Now that I have your attention :-) Just wanted to say here, as I mention to everyone who is interested in and buys the cast iron and tin products,... these are NEW and REPRODUCTION items, not original. They are not collectable or of high value. They are affordable look-a-likes for those who don't have thousands of $$$ to spend on original signage and memorabilia, and most importantly, they look NEW. Some may refer to these items as rubbish, and some grace their bars, mancaves, she sheds etc, with these historic brands we have grown up with, and have happy memories of those days. So if you prefer original, save a few months income and head out to the auctions. Having said that, I currently have 2 original Mobil drums at present, but affordable due to condition and other factors. So enjoy these items, knowing they are still made of good materials, but hot off the press so to speak. See more

13.01.2022 Join in the Festive Spirit and enter the Liverpool Plains Shire Christmas Lights Competition 2020 (See full details re categories, entry forms and key dates be...low) Liverpool Plains Shire Council (LPSC) Mayor, Councillor Doug Hawkins OAM, is encouraging Shire residents and businesses to join in the spirit of Christmas and enter the LPS 2020 Christmas Lights Competition. Entries are now open and close on Monday 14 December at 9am. Already there are some great displays up around the Shire and there’ll be considerably more as we move into December. These displays bring a lot of joy, especially to younger children, as their parents take them out after dark to marvel at the lights and the scenes many portray. The competition is a bit of fun and the winners of each category will be awarded $100 Shop Local Vouchers, the Mayor said. There are 4 categories to be being judged - Best House Best Business Best Lights Display Best All Rounder Councillor Hawkins said entry forms are available online from the LPSC website at http://www.lpsc.nsw.gov.au/index.p/mycommunity/competitions, via survey monkey at www.surveymonkey.com/r/LPSXMAS20, Council’s Administration Centre, Werris Creek library and the Willow Tree Visitor Information Centre. He said judging will take place during the evenings of Monday 14 to Wednesday 16 December. Completed entry forms should be emailed to [email protected] or delivered to the facility where the entry forms were picked up from. The winners will be announced on Wednesday 23 December on Council’s Facebook page and in the Quirindi Advocate, he said. Christmas lights are enjoyment that can be delivered in a Covid-safe manner. It adds to community ambience as homes and businesses look stunning at night. They can help brighten us all up after what has been a rather difficult year for many and prepare us for spending holiday time relaxing with family and friends, he continued. I’d like to thank all those who join and share the spirit of the season and encourage others to get into the festive mood, by decorating their homes and businesses and bring extra Christmas cheer to the Liverpool Plains Shire, Councillor Hawkins concluded.

09.01.2022 At its September Ordinary Meeting, LPSC resolved to reduce the charges to sporting facility user groups by 50 per cent for the 2020/21 financial year. LPSC Mayo...r, Councillor Doug Hawkins OAM, said Council had received several requests from sporting facility user groups seeking a reduction in fees as COVD-19 impacted their clubs ability to run events, thus reducing their capacity to raise funds to pay the fees. LPSC acknowledges the importance of sport and recreation to the community and, as such during normal times, user fees are determined on a 30 per cent cost recovery basis with Council providing a significant subsidy to assist the user groups, many of which are organised and run by volunteers. The reduction for the rest of this financial year reduces that cost recovery to fifteen percent, he said. It is important that everything possible is done to assist these organisations to make it through the pandemic, so they continue to operate where possible now and into the future. No club has sought a total waiving of the fees, acknowledging that Council still incurs costs to maintain and operate these facilities even with lower usage, he continued. It is Council policy and part of the Community Strategic Plan to support local groups, including sporting, youth and recreational organisations. Community interest in sport and recreation was evident as Council developed the LP Recreation Strategy. Council is now embarking on the biggest investment in its history towards sport and recreation. Funding has been secured to the value of $3,117,950 to commence implementation of the Showground Precinct and the Quirindi Sporting Fields Precinct projects as well as funding from other sources for further developments at David Taylor Oval Werris Creek and recreation grounds in our smaller communities. There are exciting times ahead for sport and recreation in the Liverpool Plains Shire, he concluded.

Three cases in overseas travell...ers in hotel quarantine were also diagnosed. One case was temporarily reclassified from a confirmed to probable case on 12 October while under review is re-included today, having now being confirmed as a positive case. This brings the total number of cases in NSW to 4,121. NSW Health thanks the community for responding to calls for increased testing, with 16,021 tests reported to 8pm last night, compared with 8,609 in the previous 24 hours. Of the new cases to 8pm last night: Three were acquired overseas and are now in hotel quarantine Eleven were locally acquired, and all are linked to known cases Nine of the new cases reported today are linked to the Lakemba GP cluster, which now has 12 cases in total. All nine cases are household or other contacts of known cases, including three who attended the clinic. Contact tracing and investigations into the source of the cluster continue. Two of the new cases reported today are linked to the private clinic cluster, which now has 10 cases in total. One case attended the clinic, and the other is a staff member at the clinic. Contact tracing and investigations into the source of the cluster continue. One of the new cases of COVID-19 reported today attended the Narellan Town Centre on Camden Valley Way on 7 October from 11.30am to 1pm. Anyone who attended this venue at this time is considered a casual contact and must monitor for symptoms and get tested immediately if they develop any symptoms. After testing, they must remain in isolation until a negative test result is received. Everyone plays an important role in helping to contain the pandemic by testing quickly and following social distancing rules. Get tested on the day you get symptoms don’t wait to see if they go away. Assume it’s COVID-19 until proven otherwise by a test. There is no limit on how many tests you can have. Testing is quick, free, and easy and most people receive their test result within 24 hours. If you have even the mildest of symptoms like a runny nose or scratchy throat, cough, fever or other symptoms that could be COVID-19, please come forward for testing right away. Locations linked to known cases, advice on testing and isolation, and areas identified for increased testing can be found here: https://www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/latest-news-and-updates. NSW Health is treating 62 COVID-19 cases, including one in intensive care who does not require ventilation. Ninety-four per cent of cases being treated by NSW Health are in non-acute, out-of-hospital care.
