14.01.2022 Hey there Sunny Coasters . You know when you meet a character who is just going to have a fascinating background??? Well I just had a great coffee with Trevor... Watson, owner of Sunshine Coast Joinery. From when I walked into his workshop and saw all of the meticulous wood work going on, to when we sat down with a coffee and he took me back to his Boat Building days when he worked at his fathers business in Bulimba called Millkraft Boat Yard. Trevor completed with Honors a Boat Building Apprenticeship and many years with his Dad making timber boats big ones like Cruisers and Trawlers from 60ft upwards. This was the start of Trevors passion of working with wood. I can see how he has fallen in love with it. Taking a raw, rough lump of wood and working it to a piece that he can then craft into the finished product. When I was in is workshop, he showed me some school desks that he was making from scratch for a school up at Noosa seriously, you would think that you would find them in an antique store. (or you will in another 100 years I am sure based on the quality I saw) There was a time in Trevors career when he owned a business called Photoline which was a Framing and Printing business. This was born out of making oval timber photo frames. Trevor had had successful businesses which allowed him to go into retirement. But, his passion for working with wood came out again, and 3 years ago he established Sunshine Coast Joinery. I asked Trevor how he finds the competition with so many large furniture retails bringing in products from overseas. He said its tough. Most people do not really understand the time (labor) involved in taking these rough bits of timber to a state that can be worked with. But the ones who do, absolutely love his work. Among all of this story, Trevor has a beautiful Wife, 4 Children and 6 Grand Children (and 1 Stumpy Tail Cattle Dog ) Check out Trevors website to see some of the work he has done. www.scjoinery.com.au Very nice work Mr Watson @ See more

10.01.2022 Hey there Sunny Coasters ... I know that there is a lot of noise around this time of year about 2020. What are you going to different... How was 2019 ... lots and lots of these questions. I know, as I get them as well. The one thing I do want to do is to get you to ask yourself one question. "If I had a spare 1.5 hrs in which I could meet some new people and potentially look at my business through a different set of lenses ... and it cost only time, would I do it?" I will l...eave this with you to think about ... my Clients and Business Owners that I have met over time know that there are no ulterior motives with me. Sure, if you want help moving forward from the workshop, then I am there to help. But if you want to take your insights from this workshop and do something with it yourself (or not ) then that is up to you. Register below, and come and meet some great like minded Business Owners .... PS: and feel free to share this all over your networks #callchris #sunshinecoast #sunshinecoastsmallbusiness #lookingforchange

08.01.2022 Being part of a family business makes it a part of your roots and thats clear when you meet Laura Peronace of ace stone + tiles. Her Father, Rocco, started the business 21 years ago in QLD (since moving it up from NSW where it began in 1974), Laura and her brother have been taken around suppliers and job sites since a young age. ace stone + tiles have done a lot of prestigious jobs in their time, including the Olympic Pools for the Sydney Games. Laura remembers a site visi...t with her Dad, in her hard hat and hi-vis vest standing at the bottom of the pool thinking; "this is pretty cool, how many people will get to stand at the bottom of the diving pool for the Olympics". Since her Father passed away, ace stone + tiles has remained a family affair. While Laura assists in the running of the showroom and undertakes all aspects of marketing, her brother Antonio runs the company, sourcing suppliers to add to their unique collections and ensuring the company still maintains its high level of customer service and product quality. So unique is everything at ace stone + tiles that you wont actually find it anywhere else. The reason They have exclusive deals for all the ranges that they deal in. With stone from Italy, Turkey and Brazil. Tiles from Italy and Spain, the range and uniqueness of the products is sensational. Laura tells me that her favourite part about her job is helping people choose the materials for their new build or renovation and seeing it all come together. "Building and renovating can be a stressful situation. With so many decisions to make I love helping people put together something that will help make their vision come to reality" And its no surprise that Laura can do just that. Giving me a tour of the factory and showroom its obvious that Laura lives and breathes the business. I had no idea there were so many advances in technology over the last number of years in stone and tile. With digital ceramic prints you can get tiles in all manner of designs. There are also ceramic slabs to rival natural stone for durability AND provide guarantees of up to 25 years. Their commitment to customer satisfaction means that to ensure they fully understand what a customer wants and needs customers are all booked in by appointment, no rushing. This is personal service at its best. If you are building or renovating I would highly recommend giving ace stone + tiles a call to make an appointment. Its worth it just to even go and see the bathrooms they have designed just for the customers to use.
