12.01.2022 A big thanks to The Pickled Cumquat for her mention of The Mushroom Depot in her fabulous blog. It was a pleasure to take such a passionate food-lover on a mini-tour of Orange Grove Market. Here's Miss Cumquat's delicious mushroom soup recipe! http://www.thepickledcumquat.com.au//mushroom-soup-my-way.

11.01.2022 All Orange Grove Market stallholders - and I'm sure I can include former Mushroom Depot owner Peter Hood in this -today mourn the loss of our beloved fish seller Mick, taken from us by cancer. Please contribute to the collection at the Cappuccino Afloat Mobile coffee stall this Saturday - proceeds will help pay for the funeral and support his wife and children.

10.01.2022 It's time to take a walk on the wild side! The right combination of moisture and autumnal temperatures can turn regional pine forests into gardens of earthly delights for funghi fans. Of course, knowledge is required to sort the nice mushrooms from the nasty - and that's where The Mushroom Depot comes in. Our contacts forage fresh, safe and delicious wild mushies from secret spots. And this week, they've hunted a fine crop of pine mushrooms, aka saffron milk caps - just wipe clean, cook and enjoy the taste of autumn. Try this simple Australian Women's Weekly recipe - or get more tips from TMD at your local growers' market this week. http://food.ninemsn.com.au//imu/8347246/pine-mushroom-ragu

07.01.2022 We've had a lot of feedback on chef Stefano Manfredi's inspiring ode to funghi in last week's Sydney Morning Herald. Here's his recipe for preserved mushrooms we suggest using swiss brown, oyster, shimeji, king brown and chestnuts - to serve with steak. You'll find the best of nature's mushroom bounty at The Mushroom Depot this week. See you at your local growers' market! http://www.smh.com.au//minute-steak-with-preserved-mushroo

04.01.2022 As regular customers know, The Mushroom Depot isn't "just" a source of funghi fun. TMD also represents Darling Mills Farm, suppliers of amazing, high-quality salad greens and herbs to the restaurant trade. Check out this story on DM's Steve Adey - these days he even grows edible weeds for some of Sydney's top chefs. Of course there's no need to go foraging for weeds or mushrooms - just head to TMD at your local growers' market!

02.01.2022 At The Mushroom Depot, we're not sticklers for tradition. We'll happily add Asian mushrooms to an Italian risotto (shiitakes are a risotto must!), and know swiss browns make fine stirfry fare. So when we stumbled across this twist on funghi trifolati, using delicious, sweet chestnut mushrooms instead of the usual oyster mushies, we just had to share! The chestnuts from TMD's new head funghi fun-guy, grower John Gates, are particularly crisp-stemmed and delicious. Drop by our stall at your local growers' market to meet him and get acquainted with his fresh-from-the-farm mushrooms!
