22.01.2022 Today the Humphries project came to a close as the class 7W, class 9 and class 12 working group volunteers finished the illustrations for the Dreamtime story book that will soon be published! Thank you project coordinators Trish Crook and Elaine Meyer, to Elder Cliff Humphries direct descendent Dawn, Clive and Donald, and to Dr Tim McCabe. We are so very grateful that the event culminated in a viewing of such an amazing piece of history: Cliff Humphries himself telling an...d singing the ancient story. The story is not only of cultural and spiritual significance, but also of great historical importance as a critical piece of evidence in the 2006 High Court trial where WA restored native title to the Noongar Nation. We are humbled and grateful to have been a part of this important collaboration. Thank you and well done to everyone who contributed to this reconciliation effort. See more

21.01.2022 THAT FIRST YEAR The year that two became three No. More. Hot. Tea.... The year of not leaving your side For more than an hour And feeling revived From a two minute shower The year of white noise Cuddles and baby slings As you slowly adjust To the outside things The year of sleep regressions Monkey impressions Panicked Google searches Too many to mention The year I realised that women Really do hold all the powers Rocking and pacing For hours and hours Being more selective of The company I keep And dreading that question So how does he sleep? The year of building All the rods for my own back Binning the baby books And not looking back Endless walks with the pram To help you to nap Pounding the pavements Looking like crap One whole year to realise That theres no wrong or right Theres what works What you need In the middle of the night The year of doubts and fears And bending the ears Of family and friends Hell sleep eventually But when? But youre more than Your sleep struggles So much more Youre that look of wonder At a knock on the door Your giggles Your protests And that tiny roar Beaming with pride As you take in your stride Learning to roll, crawl and stand And wave your wee hand A sudden respect for those Whove done all this before But with two, with three, with four Or more The year of grand plans and dreams Of these homemade cuisines But some days just called For eggs, chips and beans And yet somehow you thrived And we just about survived The hourly wake-ups, And some almost-breakups You really did shake-up These two kids ------------------------------------------ Words: Karen McMillan (@mother_truths) Image: Soosh @vskafandre MOTHER TRUTHS The Poetry Book is available to buy now: https://linktr.ee/mother_truths

19.01.2022 Class 9A Garden Build Main Lesson This week, Class 9A students spent the mornings cleaning, building and re-vamping the high school ecology garden. Many projects were undertaken to bring life to the space, including mulching of the area, pruning the mulberry tree, mending of the shade-house and cleaning the fire pit. Birdhouses and pallet furniture were also built for students to use and enjoy the garden. Students arranged for food to be brought in at the end of each morning's work, which the class shared together. Tahlia and Zoe

12.01.2022 The city states of Delphi, Athens, Sparta and Corinth came together for the ancient Olympic games on Friday. Almighty Zeus called for honour, grace, beauty and skill from the Olympic participants who had travelled to meet with us from the Coastal Plains of West Coast, the hills of Silver Tree, the northern reaches of Helena River, the far south of Yallingup and the distant forests of Golden Hill. Thank you Wendy, class 5 parents and all the supporters for making it a magnificent day for our athletes.

10.01.2022 "The best classroom and the richest cupboard is roofed only by the sky." Margaret McMillan Margaret McMillan CH CBE (20 July 1860 27 March 1931) was a nursery... school pioneer and lobbied for the 1906 Provision of School Meals Act. Working in deprived districts of London, notably Deptford, and Bradford, she agitated for reforms to improve the health of young children, wrote several books on nursery education and pioneered a play-centred approach that has only latterly found wide acceptance. In 1914 Margaret and her sister founded the Open-Air Nursery School & Training Centre in Deptford for children from eighteen months to seven years and for adult trainees. Check her out on Wikipedia, she is one of educations geniuses (so said Rudolf Steiner after he met her and learned of her approach). Her Open-Air Nursery model was open on one side to Nature. She understood the role of Nature in childrens Wellbeing and Belonging.

07.01.2022 WELCOME TO OPEN DAY 2020 We are very pleased to welcome our community of parents and friends as well as the general public to our school this Saturday for the annual Open Day and School Fair from 10:00am3:00pm. Our Mission? The schools Strategic Plan highlights our mission to provide Early Childhood to Class 12 Education based on the indications given by Rudolf Steiner, Anthroposophy and the Steiner Curriculum.... Our curriculum has been recognised by the State and Federal Governments as one of the four national curriculums. The others being the Australian Curriculum, the Montessori and the I.B. Our Vision? To awaken and preserve the childs innate sense of wonder, awe and reverence for life. To restore vitality to childhood by infusing the learning process with love. To cultivate the childs capacity for clear thinking. The development and strengthening of a deep interest in the health and well-being of other people in our community and the world. At the Open Day and School Fair we really hope you will feel informed, enlivened and excited that the vision is being manifested. You can do this by: conversation with teachers about what we teach and how we teach; viewing the classrooms, the childrens work and their performances, and experiencing the sense of community and natural beauty at our school. What is Steiner Education? Should you be stopped in the days after Open Day and asked the classic question What is Steiner Education anyway? here are three sentences to guide you. Hint: read them carefully a few times and form a mental picture of what they actually mean. It helps! Steiner Education recognises that the three soul faculties of the human being emerge and develop in a specific sequence between 0 and 21 years of age first Willing, second Feeling, third Thinking. The way we teach and what we teach matches these developmental stages and is in harmony with the developing child. By teaching in this way, Steiner Education serves to strengthen and balance these innate human capacities so our graduates have willpower and resilience, have a healthy feeling of life and are able to think with clarity. The need for imagination, a sense of truth and a feeling of responsibility these are the three forces which are at the very nerve of education. Rudolf Steiner Have a wonderful Saturday. Bruce Lee School Administrator NOTE: This year, due to COVID-19 we have taken extra care to ensure a safe experience and we urge you to follow the guidelines and be responsible.
