24.01.2022 "Bob's Railway" was launched on Wednesday at Peterborough. Bob was the first in the town to have a look at the book, and as he did not tear or chew it up we will take it that he approves. On Sunday we will be having a "Bob" event at the National Railway Museum. There will be a new display feature to house Bob's collar, and other items relevant to Bob. The National Railway Museum bookshop will be well stocked with copies of "Bob's Railway". Other stockists of the book are the Steamtown Heritage Rail at Peterborough, and Meg's Bookshop at Port Pirie which will have stock early/mid week. In Victoria the Railfan Shop at Mont Albert has the books.

20.01.2022 BOB'S RAILWAY IS THE STORY OF "BOB, THE RAILWAY DOG". SARLINES RAILWAY BOOKS IS THE NEW PUBLISHING ENTERPRISE THAT WILL PRODUCE "BOB'S RAILWAY". IT WILL BE RELEASED IN MAY www.sarlinesbooks.com.au

15.01.2022 The artwork for the inside cover for the next book "Bob's Railway" is by Glen Hadden. The subtitle on the front cover of the book is "Turbulent political times in South Australia and a remarkable railroading dog." The book will be launched in May with two functions, one on 8 May at Peterborough, and on 12 May at the National Railway Museum. I am accepting payment now for pre-publication orders which will close on 10 April. I now have a website www.sarlinesbooks.com.au Proof copies of the book are presently available for inspection at the National Railway Museum and at Steamtown Peterborough. The scene that Glen has produced is of Bob hitching a ride on a light engine at Burra, bound for Terowie.

12.01.2022 I have decided to do a book on "The Overland". If it stops running at the end of the year, then the book will be full of memories of a grand old lady. If a rescue is successful then I'd like to think that a comprehensive history will have some marketing effect. It will be social history and full of folklore. If you have any memories or anecdotes, I would like to hear them. I have booked myself on the 28th and return to Adelaide on 29th. If it is the last run then lets give the old lady a send-off. If the rescue is successful the we can use the opportunity to celebrate - but there has to be a serious movement whereby the community gets behind the "Big O"- a "friends of the Overland" organisation or something like that. John Wilson.

11.01.2022 "Bob's Railway", the book about Bob, the Railway Dog, is now at the printers. The last to be completed was the Epilogue which is a whole two pages. Here is the first. There are two days left during which I can accept pre-publication orders www.sarlinesbooks.com.au The book launch will be at Steamtown Peterborough Wednesday 8 May at 5.00 pm, and in the city we are having a big ding at the National Railway Museum on Sunday 12 May at 2.15 pm. That is Mothers' Day; we have timed the event so that families can come to the Port and have lunch. We recommend the Dolphin River Cruise which departs at 12 noon and returns at 1.30.

10.01.2022 Here are the opening pages of "Bob's Railway", the history of "Bob" the railway dog. I am now accepting orders at the pre-publication price of $68 for collection at the launch venues. That offer closes on 10 April. Events will be at Steamtown Rail Heritage Centre, Peterborough at 5.00 pm on Wednesday 8 May, and National Railway Museum at 2.15 pm Sunday 12 May. Both venues presently have proof copies of the book for looking at. Orders and payment online www.sarlinesbooks.com.au John Wilson

10.01.2022 I was up at Mount Lofty this am. Can you spot the difference in these two pictures? You don't have to look too hard. Stephen Marshall is having trouble working out which one is his vision for a future South Australia. Can you kindly share these around to get as many South Australians as possible to help poor Stephen to get on the right track. John Wilson

09.01.2022 Tomorrow is the big launch of "The Riesling Railway" book at the National Railway Museum at 10.15 by Monica McInerney. There will be activities all day, the last being a special run of "Peronne" at 3.30pm with Monica and myself travelling in the "short-Tom" carriage - that is if Monica hasn't wrecked "Peronne" earlier in the day - she gets to drive the engine about 11.00 am! Remember those ticket machines that were inside every station ticket-window? We have had "Edmonson" tickets printed for the day - every visitor on this weekend gets a souvenir ticket stamped with the centenary date. Now there are five double-tickets I am offering for that 3.30 ride to the first correct responders - What is the Number of the "Edmonson" ticket we are saving for Monica? It is 000?

05.01.2022 Here are the four opening pages of the next book, THE OVERLAND - A SOCIAL HISTORY. It is now at the printers and I am expecting it will be ready mid-May. It is only available on-line www.sarlinesbooks.com.au The pre-publication price is $65 plus postage. That pricing will continue to the end of June. John Wilson.

04.01.2022 The great news is that the Andrews Government has provided funding to keep the "Overland" operating in 2019. We in South Australia cannot expect Victoria to keep propping up the service year after year. If South Australians want to keep this train running we have to use it. Have a holiday and spend three or four days, along with some South Australian money, being a tourist in Victoria. Regarding the book that I am producing, the title will be "The Train that Would not Die". I expect it will be released in late 2019 or early 2020. John Wilson

04.01.2022 Saturday's big ding at the National Railway Museum started of with a very spontaneous "high -school" war-cry by a couple of clowns, ABHS old scholars. Port Adelaide's normally very straight-faced elected members (Butler and Close) joined in the mirth. James Duggin in the green shirt, and Monica with the framed train-order directing her to "Proceed to Clare". Then we had lunch in the dining car for all of those who had helped with the book. Bob Sampson and Monica with a decorated Rx 93. It was a great fun day, and special thanks to Monica McInerney (and her Mother Mary, and the extended McInerney family), the volunteers of the National Railway Museum, and all our friends who helped to make the day a success. And we sold a swag of books too. John and Pat Wilson.

03.01.2022 A couple more photos of Monica McInerney's train-driving skills at the National Railway Museum at last Saturday's book launch. These photos were passed on to me by James Duggin. Thankyou James

03.01.2022 Here is a promotional poster based on the cover of my latest book "The Overland - A Social History" The artwork is by Glen Hadden and depicts Serviceton station about 1938 with the arrival of the westbound express hauled by two Victorian A2 locomotives, while the South Australian 600 class Pacific is simmering away on the crossing loop, waiting to take its turn and speed the "Overland" to Tailem Bend. I am now open for pre-publication orders and have a special deal running to the end of April. The details are on my website www.sarlinesbooks.com.au
