23.01.2022 Greetings again backers, from Newlyn (VIC) on a cold and frosty Monday morning: Many thanks to all of you who supported The Windmill fundraiser this weekend - w...e are delighted now to be able to tell our generous $1,000 matching donor to go ahead and make their donation, and to start thinking about a time and place for their private concert. You'll see that contribution soon if you're following the project on Kickstarter. With your help, our target of $8,500 gets closer day by day. Backers have come from far and wide: Australia, of course, but also Scotland, the USA, France, Switzerland and Italy to date. This international community is a wonderful thing to contemplate. As your week begins and (for some of you) the lockdown restrictions are easing, we send our grateful thanks for the confidence you have shown in our project, Warmest wishes Neil and Judy Turner

21.01.2022 Thanks to everyone who has backed The Windmill, we are over 80% towards our target. I am feeling inspired, and sit down each day to do detailed thinking about h...armonies, string arrangements and where to put that superb mandolin! I feel lucky - that retirement and the lockdown have coincided to provide the mental and physical space to enable this detailed production work to happen. We are confident the end result will be better than anything I have done to date, because of this luxury of time. Speaking of luxury - take a look at this video, made last year in Samoa, on the verandah at Villa Vailima - a prayer-song sung in the location where (more than 120 years ago) the original prayer was penned. Spooky! Thanks again to you all, and please keep sharing our Kickstarter campaign and spreading the word - we feel a successful end is approaching fast. https://www.kickstarter.com//the-windmill-needs-the-wind-s

20.01.2022 RLS week - this Friday is his 170th birthday. And did I mention, we are launching Neil's new album this week? Boris Johnson must have been channelling RLS when ...he talked recently about Britain 'prospering mightily' after Brexit..... we have little doubt which side of the Brexument RLS would have landed on. And meanwhile, have a listen to the song 'Prosper' a collaboration between Robert Louis Stevenson and Neil Adam - a highlight of the new album, featuring Neil on vocal and guitar with Dan Witton on bass and vocal harmonies. Best heard through headphones, like most other things. See more

19.01.2022 Well, what amazing things turn up! In 2000, Judy and I spent a morning at the ABC studios in Melbourne recording a song of mine with Kavisha Mazzella, Bruce Packard and great Asturian band Felpeyu for Paul Petran's long running, amazing and much lamented radio world music show Music Deli. The song is called Al Grassby's Grandfather, inspired by an occasion earlier that year at Jamberoo Festival (thanks, Dave De Santi ) where we and Felpeyu met Al and he told us about his Span...ish grandfather, who was a kind of pirate. I wrote the song with Igor from Felpeyu, we all played it live the same day, rather chaotically, we did it again at Port Fairy and the National Festival that year. And then Paul suggested we could all record it at the ABC, which we did. And what a morning we had! It was filmed by Tahir Cambis on the day, and the film was lost, now refound, and here it is again, 20 years later. Igor and Carlos, amazing characters, sadly lost their lives in 2006 in an accident on a French motorway when on tour. But the band played on and you should listen to them on facebook. It has been lovely for us to be back in touch since this was finished..better late than never! In the afternoon, we went back to Kavish's house, had a BBQ in the backyard, drank beer till the sun went down, and swore eternal friendship. See more

11.01.2022 It's RLS Week - lots happening, including our new album - listen here!

10.01.2022 Back in the olden days, we were booked to play this Sunday at the Kew Courthouse, presenting our RLS show for the first time since the Edinburgh Fringe in 2019.... Now the clever folk at Melbourne Tartan Festival have gone virtual, and so have we! The link will be posted here and at the Festival FB on Sunday - we would love you to join us. Stay safe all - and remember, as RLS said "Life is not a matter of holding good cards, but playing a poor hand well." N&J

03.01.2022 Greetings lovers of RLS and happy 140th to Louis and his beloved Fanny. We invite you to take a look at our latest project to honour and celebrate his memory and (if you like what you see) to support us via our campaign page at the link below. Thanking you in advance for donating or sharing. Neil and Judy https://www.kickstarter.com//the-windmill-needs-the-wind-s
