21.01.2022 In case you needed another excuse to eat chocolate Fibre and protein packed due to the chickpeas.. and you can use an oven or air fryer! So this one gets a tick from me! Use a good quality dark chocolate such as Lindt for the best flavour but there’s nothing saying you can’t do this with milk or white chocolate too! You could even use the Noshu low carb choccie chips if you like ... So who’s joining us on the Type1 Foundation FB Group tomorrow @ 8pm AEST? @andibfitnesspro
21.01.2022 Just in case you missed the very popular cooking class last night with @andibfitnesspro . Here is the recipe. Enjoy !
18.01.2022 Having a good support network is one of the most important parts of maintaining men’s physical and mental health. Throw t1d or supporting a child who t1d on top of that and men have a massive task to manage all aspects of their health. Men’s health is often overlooked because they are less likely to reach out and ask for help due to societal norms and biases in place. ... But with the majority of suicides taking place in Australia being men... this issue is beyond prevalent. And it needs to stop. Did you know Mensline offer phone and online chat counselling and support services? Call 1300 789 978 Or visit www.mensline.org.au Tag your mates, blokes, hubbies, dads, uncles, brothers below incase they need some extra support.

16.01.2022 A drink bottle is so much more than the bottle. It represents thirst. Thirst is one of the main symptoms of Type1 Diabetes. If someone you know is constantly thirsty please get checked for Type1. Big Thirst Think First. If in doubt get checked out! . We aim to sell 2000 Drink Bottles. Each drink bottle sold will allow us to continue to spread the important message of early diagnosis to ensure that no more lives are lost and that the emotional trauma and cost of a DKA diagnos...is is prevented. Thank you for helping us to spread this message for to everyone who has already purchased a drink bottle. 13.01.2022 Some interesting facts from National Diabetes Services Scheme NDSS and @diabetes_australia into what is involved in getting your licence and also tips on driving with Type1. If you have Type1, you may need to provide a medical report before a driver’s licence or learner permit can be issued. This report should be from your treating doctor or Diabetes Educator stating that a medical examination has been performed and you have been assessed as fit to drive. The main concer...n for licensing authorities is the possibility of hypoglycaemia (low blood glucose) while driving as it can impair your ability to drive safely. Ensure that you always have a carbohydrate snack available in your car. If you feel your blood glucose level is low, pull over immediately and stop your car. Do not restart your car until you have treated your hypoglycaemia. Type1 Diabetes complications like eye problems are also of a concern as it affects your ability to drive safely. If you develop Type1 you must inform the Driver Licensing Authorities in your state or territory. If you have Type1 Diabetes you will require a medical certificate every two years. If you are required to notify the authorities but don’t, you could be charged with driving offences if you have a driving accident. People living with Type1 can drive a car like every other person on the roads perfectly well. The old guidelines used a person’s average blood glucose measurement over a three-month period (the HbA1c measurement) to determine if their Type1 diabetes management was adequate to indicate they were safe to drive. This number was only ever intended as a guide for doctors, but unfortunately many people with Type1 diabetes had their licences suspended because this ‘guide’ Diabetes Australia has successfully advocated for the removal of references to HbA1c from the guidelines and we are very pleased Austroads has made these changes. People with Type1 should never drive with a BGL of under 5. If you are using a CGM you should also check via finger prick. People with Type1 can take passengers like every other driver after their probationary period. People with Type1 are awesome drivers! See more

12.01.2022 My name is Lachie. I am 15 and in 2018 I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. This year I have designed and 3d printed Insulin Pumps and CGMs for Elf on the Shelf (or other dolls). My insulin pump and CGM makes living with diabetes a lot easier for me, and I think these PLA plastic diabetes pumps/CGMs will help make your Elf on the Shelf more relatable if you have friends or family living with Type 1 Diabetes. When I was first diagnosed we were linked with The Type 1 Foundat...ion. They have been a great support, from giving me goodies like a pack of helpful items when I was diagnosed so I knew I wasn't alone, to family days where I have met other kids living with Type 1. I am going to donate half my profit FROM EVERY PUMP and CGM sold to the Type 1 Foundation. For those interested in purchasing, please send us a message via the page below and we can go from there. Direct Deposit details will be provided. https://m.facebook.com/santaslittlediabetic/
