22.01.2022 Donations to Western Healths BreastWest program are providing support for patients undergoing breast cancer treatment who are immunocompromised and therefore at increased risk of contracting an illness such as coronavirus. Recently, the Breast Care team distributed mask packs to patients undergoing treatment in the cancer clinic. The packs included disposable masks, hand sanitizer and hand wipes. Its a small gesture, but one that our patients really appreciate, says Jen...ny Wetzler, BreastWest Support Officer. Donations have also provided for grocery packs for those patients who may be facing financial struggles, in addition to being unable to leave their home to visit the supermarket due to risk of exposure.

22.01.2022 Keep your eye out for the special edition donation dollar that has been created by The Royal Australian Mint. https://www.abc.net.au//mint-releases-special-dol/12621404 The easily identifiable coins feature a green centre with a gold ripple design to signify the ripple impact donations have. With current economic challenges, charities are expecting income to drop by approx 18% over the next 2 years. More than ever we need your help as we see the effect of living with C...OVID and the impact of the lock-down period. If you receive a special Donation Dollar in your change, please consider using it to support a worthy cause. Direct your donation to Western Health and watch the ripple effect through your own community. 18.01.2022 Williamstown Hospital has been given a new lease of life with the completion of the Heart of Williamstown project earlier this month. The $2.5m project, funded entirely by philanthropic donations, has seen the redevelopment of key public areas in the hospital to create a central visitor hub to benefit patients, visitors and staff. The new internal space includes a vastly-expanded visitor and patient lounge area overlooking landscaped courtyards with a covered walkway that p...rovides easy access to the hospital caf. Due to the current limitations on visitor access and distancing requirements of COVID-19, the new space is currently not accessible to the public, however an official opening is being planned to take place when it is appropriate to do so. The couple was transferred to Western Healths Joan Kirner Women and Childrens from regional Victoria, to receive the necessary level of medical care for mum and babies. Wilim Berrbang, with support from The Western Health Foundation, provides Welcome kits with information and essential items to all patients who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander. Along with the culturally safe Welcome Kits, they distribute; handmade booties, beanies, and bassinette blankets, made in the colours of the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander flags, to babies born at Joan Kirner Women and Childrens. 09.01.2022 It is understandable to feel emotional about entering stage 4 restrictions but if the last few months have taught us anything, its that when our community works together, we achieve amazing things. To all members of our community who have jumped on the Janome, belted out a tune on the Singer, or hand-stitched more masks and gowns than a Hollywood costume designer, we are *sew* blown away by the support you have shown our frontline healthcare workers. We have now been able t...o distribute face masks to our staff throughout the organisation to ensure they can travel safely to and from work. Would just like to pass on my appreciation to the volunteers that donated the reusable masks for staff. They look great and are very appreciated by myself and others here. Thanks. Katrina, Theatre
