19.01.2022 Tough subject I know for the start of the week. I wrote this article from my experience working with separating couples. Not a topic that is usually liked or shared but no one has to know if you read it.

17.01.2022 Just the word ‘Motivation’ can keep you glued to the couch. Do you wait around for your gym buddy to call you to nag you into going to the gym? Do you admire beautifully arranged healthy food on Instagram but lose the desire as soon as you open the fridge and see a glistening pack of Tim’s Tam’s calling your name? Congratulations, you are human! ...Continue reading

17.01.2022 There is a lot of discussion around sustainability at the moment, centred of course, around the environment and our use of resources. One definition I found for sustainability was this; Avoidance of the depletion of natural resources in order to maintain an ecological balance... But I ask this question. What about the sustainability of the human spirit? What if we spun the definition this way? Finding ways to avoid the deletion of our soul/essence/ self to maintain inner balance If we don’t talk about the elephant in the room the sustainability of the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health of every human being on the planet, we are going to struggle as a collective to help Mother Earth. And yes, I know, all the shit politicians and corruption are truly disheartening. But we can’t control that at a macro level unless there is some type of revolution on the streets. But we can start with ourselves. I ran a workshop this week for the Hunter New England Men’s Health network and I designed these questions to ponder (questions I have been asking myself for the last 10 years) Make 2020 about knowing yourself. Put your oxygen mask on first before helping the world.

09.01.2022 This is interesting. I long for this day on Facebook and Linkedin. You can still comment and share (which is great). As a writer of often confronting content, ...it has been easy to get sucked into the vortex of measuring the quality of my writing through likes - I’m only human, a sensitive human at that but I don’t want to be a slave to likes. When you are writing from a place where you have ripped your heart open, my goal truly is just to share my experience and hope some words will connect with you. But FB wants to bleed me dry and make me harass my connections with spam like frequency. FB owns Instagram but I’m not sure they will give up the power -power that is being abused by taking YOUR power away. The ability to make up your own mind and heart rather than the shiny bright distraction of a million likes. See more

09.01.2022 Last year I ran workshops for men with my team at the Balanced Brain. I filmed this video in December before we experienced the full devastation of the fires that have hurt our land and our communities. I had posted it on Christmas Eve but it didn’t feel right to promote this over the last few weeks. Having worked for over 15 years in family separation and mental health, I know that January is without a doubt the most stressful month of the year for many people. Unfortunately..., many support services are absent in January, just when people need it the most. And men are particularly vulnerable. It may be that they are dealing with a family breakdown, financial stress or just don’t want to go back to a stressful job. 2020 has not been the best start for many people, even if they have not been directly affected by the fires. But my mission is to improve the wellbeing of men and women by consciously creating a balanced life. To thrive in these complex times, we need good self-care. When we look after ourselves, everyone around us benefits. Family, work and the broader community. I need to keep going with that mission despite my own feelings of despair (and hope) at what is happening around us. So for those of you in Newcastle, I’m running a workshop for men on Saturday the 8th of February at Nobby’s Surf Club. The investment in your health and wellbeing is just $99. You get four hours of access to three passionate facilitators that help you with all aspects of your health and fitness. $10 of each ticket will go to the Top Blokes’ foundation who’s mission is to foster inclusion, build resilience and ensure the wellbeing of young men. I’ll be rolling these workshops out to other cities in the next 12 months. I also run workshops in the workplace if you are an employer or organisation interested in contacting me. Please watch the short video for the full details of the results you can expect. Last year, many women commented on how they would love the special men in their lives to focus on their health. Please pass this on to a man who may not use social media.
