23.01.2022 Had the gym mostly to myself this morning In and out early. . I’ve realised something...I don’t think you ever stop getting sore from the gym This is my 5th week of going 4 days a week after a couple of months of slackness when I started uni...I can definitely see a lot of changes in my body but I think it never gets easier, you just work harder . I’ve been trying out the @sweat app and I’m really enjoying it. So easy to follow and enough variety that I’m not getting bo...red. . I was asked the other day what my goals are with my workouts. Here’s the thing...fitness is more than just physical goals, it’s SO GOOD for your mental health. I don’t go to the gym because I have to to reach my goals, I go because I enjoy it and it makes me feel happy It’s my me time where I don’t have to worry about anything or anyone else #mumlife . Of course the physical gains (like struggling less and less while climbing Mt Tyson) feel good too, but for me it’s so good for my anxiety and stress levels. . If you think you won’t enjoy working out regularly because you’re unfit, I challenge you to commit to trying it for at least a month. You’ll surprise yourself! . You admit defeat and go to the gym an hour earlier So grateful to have won my membership at @tweak_fitness_tully . Despite a few wake ups by various children last night I actually had a great sleep! I don’t often use my essential oils for sleep on myself but last night I rolled some Lavender Peace on the bottoms of my feet ... . Who would’ve thought something so simple could make such a difference to something you didn’t even know you needed help with . Feeling super energised now and it’s only 5am! 20.01.2022 I’ve been on a bit of an emotional rollercoaster lately This uni stuff on top of #mumlife is stressful! I mean I’m absolutely loving everything I’m learning (well most of it), but oh my gosh so much time needed! I’ve been in a great routine with going to the gym 4 mornings a week...that part is easy. My day starts off great...it’s when I get home and have to deal with life that my anxiety levels go up I seem to have forgotten all the things I know make me feel good emotio...nally and physically Anyone else do that? 13.01.2022 3 lunches today. I have a full day of lectures so I’m hoping this will stop Lucy harassing me about food at least a little bit She’s quite excited to have her own lunchbox. . 2 out of 3 of my girls are fabulous eaters, and even my super picky eater (suspected sensory issues with food) loves her fruit so I’m still able to pack healthy lunches for her. . I always put a little treat of a couple of biccies in there for them...because, balance ... . They all love wraps, missy fussy 7yo has cheese and salami and the other 2 have salad. The wraps are mountain bread brand and the lavash wraps by nomad breads. The mountain bread is cleaner but the other ones are ok for me too. . Blueberries and strawberries were on special at woollies so they’ll love those. . I bought some organic preservative free sultanas too which they’re loving because I’ve never bought sultanas for them before . And lastly, some 5:am vanilla yoghurt, it does have sugar in it but it’s the most additive free yoghurt I can find that they love. . 11.01.2022 FOOD. IS. EVERYTHING! . Ever heard that saying abs are made in the kitchen...it’s true. This is the closest I’ve ever been to being able to see some ab definition, not quite coming through yet but slowly coming. And I’ve had 3 kids! . I wish I knew what I now know about food back when I was younger.... . I get comments all the time about how lucky I am. Must just have a fast metabolism. Let me tell you the only way that I may have been lucky is that I’ve naturally never been a big eater. But I’ve also never been a good eater. . My eating habits were terrible, but I just didn’t eat too much...hence why I’ve never been overweight. I have though been a good 5kg heavier than I am now...and with no muscle mass. . This is all down to food and movement for me. I actually eat more than I used to, so I can fuel my body and build some muscle mass. I don’t eat perfectly, I still have bad foods, I just allow for them . This is doable for anyone! Yes there are those who struggle with hormonal issues, injuries and all sorts of other things but you need to find what works for you. . Track every single thing you put in your mouth for 1 week, I guarantee you you’ll be surprised at how it adds up. Even if you’re eating good food you can still be eating too much of it! . There’s a fabulous group that I’ve loved learning from called Macros Inc. Yes they have paid coaching available but I’ve never been in a position to use it and I’ve still learned a TONNE! . I made this one at a workshop earlier in the year and I’ve just removed a few things that have come to fruition Now I’m sitting here pondering what else I can add to it.... I scrubbed at these with a scourer and cleaner concentrate first and was freaking out as they only faded to the point in the pictures Lemongrass to the rescue!! Came straight off.... 01.01.2022 IIFYM right? I used to go through these phases where I’d be like I want to be healthier and think that meant all or nothing. I’d try cold turkey to just cut out all the yummy things. I’ve realised though that you can have the nice things and still be eating an appropriate amount of food.... I don’t want to lose weight but I do like to understand things and want to make sure I’m eating enough etc. I go to the gym 4 days a week now so this was kinda important to me. So I started counting macros about a month or so ago. Plainly out of curiosity. It’s been SO interesting! And I’ve learned that you can still eat yummy things if you account for it. I’ve been slim my whole life and I get lots of comments about how lucky I am. Luck is not a factor in your weight and your health. I’ve never been a big eater. Simple as that. I’ve obviously always eaten the right amount (or less) calories than what I burn. The science is really that simple Does that mean that it’s easy to eat in a calorie deficit? No! But the concept is simple. If you want to maintain weight or lose it...you need to eat less calories than you burn! I highly highly recommend downloading the My Fitness Pal app and recording your food for a few weeks. Even just to see the composition of macros that you’re eating. It’s so interesting I also joined a group called Macros Inc and it’s so cool watching the awesome journeys of all the amazing people changing their lives. P.S. if you have no idea what I’m talking about when I say macros...they’re macronutrients - carbs, fats & protein. They’re the energy-yielding (calories/kJ) components of food and if you’re eating too much, your body will store the excess energy as fat. Pure and simple science. P.P.S. I do not eat this for breakfast all the time...very unhealthy But a couple of times a year we have it as a great. It’s all additive free ingredients including the home made vanilla essence
