A previous manager used to try to make it fun Fridays by buying lollies for the staff a) to keep them going and b) to keep them happy or sane when stuff ups occurred which they regularly did on a Friday. 09.01.2022 Who else has had the email from a travel agent for a family of 4 for 15 nights needing 4 separate rooms and meals. They ask for cancellation details and it actually looks legit.... but is it? Your usual length of stay is 1 night and this could be a good get....There are so many questionable approaches sent out via email it can be hard to know the difference. I really dont like seeing people being taken advantage of. Online Travel Agents have a habit of doing this as well and often without properties being aware. 07.01.2022 Rant warning - I find it amazing how people put so much trust in a website because they say the word "free" There are always terms and conditions connected to that word which aren't always free and they agree to them, however more trust is placed in the website than the actual business that they are purchasing a service from. Just because the third party booking websites say "Free Cancellation" people place more trust in that than going to the individual property website and ...making the reservation. The property will actually set the terms and conditions on the third party website and has the same terms and conditions on their ownwebsite. The property is based in Australia and operated by Australians, yet people continue to place more trust in an overseas company website because they use the word free. This is the same in all industries not only accommodation. There is always a commission to be paid to third party websites that is normally going overseas and not supporting our local economy. So why doesn't the individual website use the same wording? Because we are honest hard working people that will not take advantage of the individual to get your booking even when others do? 05.01.2022 Following correct procedures can be over looked or forgotten when offering the friendly, relaxed customer interactions with guests, especially with the "country hospitality" approach. It can, unfortunately, come back to bite you in the behind and snowball if youre not careful. Such as the guest who you had a good laugh with that you missed taking payment from leaves early and the credit card declines and no answer on the phone number provided and/or they trash the room. Weve all had them and we learn our lessons. It can be tedious to follow the "rules" however they can and do save us time and money in the long run. 03.01.2022 One thing Ive learnt from surf boat rowing is that when you are in the middle of the crap, waves and water coming at you from all angles, you need to dig deep and most of all keep going. If you stand still it can only get worse. No matter how big the wave you need to take it on with gusto and use your strengths. There is clear water on the other side and you can get through this!
