14.01.2022 Picture Windows EOI The City of Melbourne is partnering with Renew Australia to support the creative reactivation of the city and facilitate the leasing of vacant shops. Renew Australia is working with property owners and agents to facilitate access to vacant spaces. The City of Melbourne is running an Expression of interest (EOI) for a new opportunity to present artworks applied as vinyl decals on the exterior of vacant shopfronts and spaces around the city. 07.01.2022 Long time no see . It has been almost a year since we closed up our gallery space in @thedistrictdocklands , thanks to @renewaustralia and since then we have been busy with our individual practice. I, Karima particularly have been obsessed with creating ANOTHER SPACE. I am dreaming of a space where artists and people in the community can meet. A space where its led by a woman of colour like myself. So, here I am making space for myself to show others, artists, and anyone ...really that they can do it too . My new space is a pop up gallery in Footscray where I live, and utilising an empty shop front (which has been empty for almost a year) turned into a pop- up gallery. The idea is to be a pop up in real life (irl) for one month every year and closed but exists online for the rest of the year - which is where the name Open Close gallery comes from. Geddit? I will be there until end of November and would love to see you following my new side project there
