The facility will convert cooking oils and liquid food waste from local businesses into biogas for energy to power the treatment plant. 14.01.2022 Western Water staff have been celebrating NAIDOC Week 2020, with this year’s theme Always Was, Always Will Be recognising that the First Nations people have cared for this continent for over 65,000 years. We were joined by Michael Cook, Wadawurrung Traditional Owner, who talked about both the physical and intangible connections that the Wadawurrung peoples have to the Werribee water system. Staff were also invited to attend webinars from Melbourne Water, including a prese...ntation featuring some notable guest speakers including Nova Peris, Nicky Winmar, Shelley Ware and Nathan Lovett-Murray. The presenters shared their experiences with bullying and racism, and gave us some insights into issues that affect Aboriginal peoples at work and on the sporting field. David Wandin, a Wurundjeri Elder and land manager at Coranderrk in Healesville and Bruce Pascoe, a Yuin and Bunurong man, discussed Aboriginal agriculture food, fibre and community enterprise. 02.01.2022 We’ve started to fill the 35ML tank at our Minns Road site, a key source of supply for our Melton customers during the summer months. Working under a High Risk COVIDSafe Plan, we adapted to the restrictions early on in the pandemic to get these works completed in record time. Pictured is Asset Engineer William on site during construction. The tank will be full in a few days before the site goes fully operational this week. As demand increases during the summer, these works needed to happen quickly to get our network ready for those warmer days on the horizon.
