25.01.2022 City of Casey residents have an opportunity til September 27 to have input into the development of council's 2021-2025 Domestic Animal management plan. Create an account on Casey Conversations to have you say on cat and dog-related matters in the area. https://conversations.casey.vic.gov.au/damp21-25

24.01.2022 Thinking of all the creatures in East Gippsland and beyond at the moment. If you're feeling a little hopeless, Wildlife Victoria have listed ways to help.

23.01.2022 The Eastern barred bandicoot population on Phillip Island is establishing nicely!

23.01.2022 Hi everyone, the awesome people from Remember The Wild are making a short documentary on Southern Brown Bandicoots and looking for places near Melbourne where they can do some filming. Does anyone have regular bandicoot visitors to their backyard? Or know anyone who does? They are hoping to do the filming in the next 2-3 weeks but would love to find some spots where bandicoot sightings are very likely. Royal Botanic Gardens Cranbourne is wonderful, but bandicoots aren't always easy to spot there unless you're lucky!

18.01.2022 Southern Ark folks doing great work keeping a close eye on the bandicoots and potoroos of East Gippsland.

16.01.2022 Lovely to see the Eastern Barred Bandicoot reintroduction program going well.

13.01.2022 The initial list of threatened species impacted by recent bushfire was released this week - current estimates suggest that 10-30% of the known distribution of the southern brown bandicoot was affected.

13.01.2022 Wouldn't it be great to get lots of Southern Brown Bandicoot entries in the Threatened Species Bake Off this year? Submissions close 5pm AEST, September 9. https://www.environment.gov.au//thr/commissioner/tsbakeoff

12.01.2022 Can you help your local bandicoots? Deakin University needs residents of bandicoot areas to complete a 10-15-minute survey about the local population of Southern Brown Bandicoots. The Southern Brown Bandicoot is a native Australian mammal, that is currently under threat from urban development and predation from feral cats and foxes. We want to know if these bandicoots are using local backyards to move around and what features might be encouraging them to do so. We’d also like... to find out about your experience of these bandicoots and how you feel about contributing to their conservation within the community. If this sounds like something you’d like to be involved with you can find the survey here: https://researchsurveys.deakin.edu.au///SV_b9HIPTni1LZu6Hz You can also contact me, Emily Reynolds [email protected], or my principal supervisor Dr Euan Ritchie [email protected], with any questions you may have. Thank you so much for your support!

10.01.2022 Making your bandicoot observations count just got easier! Recently the Atlas of Living Australia has joined with iNaturalist meaning that all data entered into iNat will automatically also be added to ALA the official Australian biodiversity data repository. The wonderful Ricardo Simao (a great friend to the bandicoot) has created a project within iNaturalist that will automatically detect and include any Peramelidae records so we can capture all the useful data. ... Please log those bandicoot observations and share with your networks.

10.01.2022 For those with younger bandicoot fans at home, the City of Casey biodiversity colouring-in competition closes 9pm this Thursday July 30. It's be great to see lots of entries using the bandicoot design! The prize is a family pass to the gorgeous Moonlit Sanctuary. https://www.casey.vic.gov.au//caseys-biodiversity-colourin

07.01.2022 The survey closes August 31 and we're just looking for a few more responses. Help us figure out how best to support residents in making suburbs bandicoot-friendly.

06.01.2022 After much delay, mostly on my part, we finally have our Quenda Crossing signs on our bins. And ironically, while I was out talking to a neighbour about them, a Quenda ran across the road......but just down the hill a bit. Clearly they can't read. The Quenda Crossing is HERE!

05.01.2022 Talk about cute!

05.01.2022 A couple of Southern brown bandicoots (Bung, in Boon Wurrung language) digging for a feed. Bung are pretty handy to have around. While they're snuffling around for snacks, they help turn over the soil and spread beneficial fungi. Just one of many reasons to help save this precious nationally endangered species. 05.01.2022 Anyone else agree we need one of these in Koo Wee Rup or Bunyip!?

04.01.2022 Plenty of folks came along today to celebrate the Southern Brown Bandicoot at Cranbourne Gardens. Hopefully some of the kids we saw will be the next generation of bandi-advocates!

04.01.2022 While we're all spending a bit more time at home than usual, it's a great opportunity to keep an eye on the local wildlife. If you haven't yet signed up to iNautralist, you can upload sightings of bandicoots and other critters there to help build a better picture of where our wild friends like to hang out. https://www.inaturalist.org And remember, there are lots of ways to tell if animals have been around, even if you don't see them. Here's some bandicoot scat for reference :)

04.01.2022 Thank you to everyone who has shared and completed this survey. The survey is still open and we'd love a few more responses, so if you missed it the first time around, let us know your thoughts!

01.01.2022 Woah, fighting male bandicoots!
