25.01.2022 This years Psychology Week theme explores the role of psychology in helping those who suffer from pain, both acute and chronic. ‘More than a third (35%) of Australians experience chronic pain and for adults 65 years and older that goes up to almost 1 in 2 (49%). Psychological treatments have been found to be effective in improving function and reducing distress associated with pain.’ In a year where we have all faced a number of challenges, mental health support has become a...n even more essential resource for our community. From everyone at TBHG we want to thank all our psychologists for the tremendous amount of resilience and care they have shown throughout 2020 and beyond! For further resources on how psychologists can help with pain and tips for coping with pain go to: https://psychweek.org.au/2020-resources/

14.01.2022 There's no better way to celebrate State of Origin eve than with a bit of old fashioned team rivalry! Yesterday our Wellbeing Code CEO/ maroons legend David Shillington, and Managing Director Dr Kylie Henderson hosted the first in a series of four Wellbeing Wednesday presentations at the new Brisbane Business Hub. Dr Kylie spoke about the benefits of building resilience, and why developing resilient leaders is so important, whilst Dave talked about his experiences with mental health and the importance of looking after your mental and physical wellbeing both on and off the field. A great morning spent with some wonderful Brisbane business owners! Excited to catch up again next week for part 2 of our Wellbeing series.

10.01.2022 It’s International EB Week! Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) is a group of rare genetic conditions that result in very fragile, and easy blistering of the skin. Blisters occur with minor trauma or friction (or from something as harmless as a hug!) and can be very painful. EB affects over half a million people worldwide. Kids with EB are often called Butterfly Children, because their skin, both internally and externally, is as fragile as the wings of a butterfly.... Our Managing Director is from a family of EB butterflies, and, as a result, we bring personal experience to better support those with EB, their families, carers and others. This could be through Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Physiotherapy and our other services, plus lived advice. EB is a class one condition on the NDIS. This means anyone with this condition is automatically approved. If you need support for EB, please call us on 1300 632 639. #EBAWARENESS
