16.01.2022 National Drought and North Queensland Flood Response and Recovery Agency and Rotary Australia are bringing ‘one stop shops’ to St Mary’s on Wednesday 2 December... to provide support and advice on the drought and challenges like COVID-19. These events bring together all levels of government, charities, not-for-profit and agricultural organisations to support farmers and rural and regional communities living through the immediate and longer-term effects of drought. It is an excellent opportunity for farmers, families and rural communities to grab a sausage sandwich, catch up with friends and neighbours and find out what support is available during drought and tough times. Come down to St Mary’s Community Hall, Gardiners Creek Rd, St Mary’s between 4pm and 8pm and say hello.

11.01.2022 Tasmania’s emergency services have banded together as part of a new campaign calling on Tasmanians to take responsibility for keeping themselves and others safe... on our roads. The social media campaign includes five short videos featuring first responders from Tasmania Police, Tasmania Fire Service, Tasmania SES and Ambulance Tasmania; reminding motorists: One moment of distraction is all it takes to cause a crash. Pay attention and leave your phone alone. Speed limits exist for a reason. Obey the limit and help us keep everyone safe on our roads. Seatbelts save lives. Buckle up every time you get behind the wheel and make sure children are wearing the right restraints. Never drive after drinking or taking drugs. You’ll be putting more than just your life on the line. Driving tired is dangerous. Pull over and have a break. Arriving late is better than not arriving at all.
