24.01.2022 I realize not everyone on the Paleo Diet (or variations of it) overeats Protein, but too often people think if "a bit is good, then a lot must be better".. Yes, if you are overweight, have compromised digestion or other health issues, chances are you are (refined) "carbohydrate intolerant" so you should largely avoid refined carbs. As this article explains though, you definitely shouldn't be entirely replacing those calories with protein intake. Remember good fats (polyunsatu...rated esp omega-3's along with likes of avocado and coconut foods) are a food source to emphasize as much (likely more) than protein. We too here in Australia are consuming typically way over the healthy range of protein. Of course everything needs to be oriented from your own constitutional type (thats a whole another story in itself though) and how active you are. Please don't justify your high protein intake on the basis that you exercise though. Even assuming you're a "Protein type" and are an elite athlete, you still only need at most 1gm of protein per kilogram of body. The average Australian consumes ~90gm of protein a day.. 20.01.2022 Intermittent Fasting as this article mentions is a powerful method of addressing Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Basically our overeating generates excess free radicals / toxins in our body, which places extra stress on our Mitochondria (our "energy factory cells"). Eating majority of your daily calories in a 6-8 hour window allows your body to get what it needs and then the rest of the time set about returning the body to it's optimal balanced state. Makes sense doesn't it?
