25.01.2022 It seems that our world is constantly changing, sometimes for the better, sometimes for the not so good. Despite all the changes in Bulcock street it still remains a great open air shopping centre where you may not have to worry about 'social distancing' quite so much. Cafes, clothing boutiques, discount stores, picture theatre and a great range of specialty shops. Supermarket, butcher and fruit shop within an easy walking distance. We do seem to have it all. The Caloundra Street Fair is still on tomorrow. You can check the details on their facebook page. Of course things can change very quickly but at the moment it is business as 'nearly usual' in beautiful Bulcock Street. Keep safe everyone. We look forward to seeing you soon.
25.01.2022 Sorry for the late notice but we have just been able to arrange for Pam to come to our shop today to sign and sell her book 'The Long Goodbye'.Pam will be selling them at a very special price so you will have to be quick. If you are visiting the Caloundra Street Fair today pop in and say 'good-day'. Enjoy your Sunday everyone and stay safe.
21.01.2022 Happy Sunday everyone. We hope you have a good day. Despite the chance of rain, even though there are no markets and we are encouraged to stay at home, we will be open today and we should have a book of interest to you. Contrary to what 'google' says, no appointment is needed to visit our shop and we will not close before 3.00 pm today. We hope to see you soon. Stay safe.
21.01.2022 While there does appear to be a lot we need to be concerned about at the moment, most of the big decisions affecting us are out of our control. We love the 'Two Ronnies' and this is our 'go to' sketch when we need a lift and a smile. We hope you can make the time to watch and enjoy it. Do watch the last little bit as well. Watch it here https://www.google.com/search hope you are able to stay safe and are being looked after if required. Be kind. Best wishes to everyone.
20.01.2022 Some really good news is that reading groups have not been banned provided they have less than 500 members at their meetings. More goods news is that we have made the decision not to ration any of the books we have in stock including these ones that have been so popular over the past few months. We hope you enjoy your weekend, stay safe and we look forward to seeing you soon.
20.01.2022 We just wanted to remind everyone that it is a public holiday in Caloundra today for the Maleny Show. However, the show this year is not going on. If you need something to do to while away the hours we will be open as usual, and should have a book that may interest you. Have a great day whatever you do and stay safe.
20.01.2022 We have been selling Russell Kenery's new book 'Curious Voyages' for a month or so but have only just had a good browse through it, and now realize what a little gem it is. It is a wonderful collection of true adventures involving the sea and so obviously told by someone who knows and loves his subject. The book is excellent value at just $39.95. You can read more about the book here. http://www.maritimetas.org//m/summer_reading_2019-2020.pdf. Come and have a look at this book, you will not be disappointed. Have a good night all, stay safe
18.01.2022 We would just like to let everyone know that we are still open and thank everyone for their support over the years, and particularly the last couple of weeks. Stay safe all and look after yourselves and those close to you. The Caloundra Street Fair has been cancelled today so there is plenty of parking in Bulcock Street. Have a good day everyone.
17.01.2022 What a day we have tomorrow in our little shop! By not checking our diary we will now have two wonderful people for you to meet. Both Kerry and Jade will be here from about 9.00am and you can read more about their work here. For Kerry, Kerry Ide Illustration and for Jade, Rainbow Tree and Rainbow Unicorn. Another two good reasons to visit the Caloundra Street Fair tomorrow. Have a good night all and we hope to see you in the morning.
17.01.2022 Do you need something to read to take your mind off everything that is going on? Lots of new releases have arrived in the past week and here is a small selection you might enjoy. Don't forget that we are able to deliver to some areas for a small fee. We are still open as usual, for the time being anyway Have a great weekend everyone, take care and stay safe.
16.01.2022 We can sell the book by former PM Malcolm Turnbull now. We are not sure that we have enough to meet the possible demand but we have more on order already. Our price is a very competitive $39.99. Have a great day everyone and stay safe.

16.01.2022 Tomorrow from about 9.00am we will have local author, Stephen Estella in our shop talking about his new book 'Grandma Beans and the Tall Welshman' It should be fun. If you are visiting the Caloundra Street Fair tomorrow come and say g'day. Have a good night everyone.
15.01.2022 Sorry about the late notice. We seem to have been preoccupied with a couple of other things going on at the moment. We are very pleased to have Caloundra author Gregory James in our shop today with his book Bordertown. A good crime yarn set in rural Australia. You will enjoy it. Come and say g'day to Gregory after 9.00am. Have a great day all.
14.01.2022 Covid19, Robodebt, social distancing, closed borders, shops closed or open shorter hours and now rain.It is almost enough to make you want to read a book. We are open today, as usual, until at least 3 pm and should have a book to satisfy your needs. Have a great day everyone and stay safe.
14.01.2022 Not sure how we came across this but found it very interesting. Bill and Melinda Gates have worked with Rotary International and others for many years to almost eradicate polio from the world. Perhaps this work has given him insights and opportunities to gain knowledge that many others do not get. If you have a few minutes to spare we urge you to have a look at this TED talk Bill Gates gave in March 2015. https://www.ted.com//bill_gates_the_next_outbreak_we_re_no. You may also like to have a look at the USA Today fact check site here. https://www.usatoday.com//coronavirus-fact-che/2890900001/. Whatever you do people, we hope you have a good day. Stay safe and we look forward to seeing you soon.
14.01.2022 Time flies when you have such loyal customers. This article in the 'Shop Caloundra' magazine shows that despite everything being different from several weeks ago, we're still the same and with continued support, we're not ready to go just yet.
14.01.2022 We are really looking forward to having Kerry Ide Illustration at our shop tomorrow. If you need something special for yourself, or Mum, we are sure Kerry will have something for you. We look forward to seeing you in the morning. Have a great day all.
13.01.2022 The Caloundra Street Fair is on today and Jade will be here talking about her wonderful book Rainbow Tree.Come and say g'day from 9.00am. Have a great day everyone and stay safe.
13.01.2022 This struck us as being a bit strange. Aussies queuing for toilet paper and Americans queuing for guns. Both because of the coronavirus. We wonder which is the weirder, and where you would rather be? We still have a good supply of books available and rationing is not under consideration at the moment. Unlike Powell's Bookstores in Portland we have no plans to close either. That is also quite interesting and you can read all about it here. https://www.portlandmercury.com//powells-bookstores-closed
12.01.2022 We just thought that we should let you know that we have taken the decision not to impose limits on the number of these new releases you can buy at any one time. Cash and all credits cards are acceptable forms of payment. Toilet rolls and tissues unfortunately are not. Stay safe everyone and we hope to see you soon.
12.01.2022 A very different Anzac Day this year. We hope everyone is able to have time to reflect on what is important to them. Stay safe and we hope to see you soon. If you were not able to see the dawn service from Canberra this morning you can watch a wonderful rendition of the National Anthems here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pxu--sExafY . You will have to go to the 38.50 minute mark to see them. Well worth the effort. Have a great day everyone.
09.01.2022 Regretfully we had had to cut our opening hours for the next couple of days. We will be closing at 2.00 today and only opening from 10 til 2 tomorrow. We should be open as usual from Saturday but will keep you posted. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you and thank you for your support. Stay safe everyone.
08.01.2022 We love having Kerry Ide Illustration at our shop and are very happy that she will be here again tomorrow with her wonderful collection of art products. Come down from 9.00am and have a look, you will be impressed.
07.01.2022 A couple of weeks ago we lost a true giant of Australian literature. The passing of Bruce Dawe will leave a huge hole in the lives of all who knew him, or ever met him. Our thoughts are especially with Liz at this time. You might like to read this wonderful tribute to Bruce by Matthew Condon https://readingaustralia.com.au/essays/sometimes-gladness/. We consider ourselves very fortunate. Have a good day everyone.
05.01.2022 Good morning. We just wanted to remind you that although the Caloundra Street Fair is not on today, and many shops have closed because of 'The Virus', we intend to be open as usual until at least 3.00pm. Stay safe everyone, be careful and we hope to see you soon.
03.01.2022 We are going to have the local author Bernadette Rowley in our shop tomorrow from 9.00am talking about her series of books, 'The Queenmakers Saga' and a brand new book. If you are in town visiting the new look Caloundra Street Fair come up and say hello. Have a great day everyone and stay safe.
03.01.2022 We just wanted to hope that everyone has a good day today. Whether you are able to have contact with your Mum or not, for whatever reason, on this very different 'Mother's Day'. Stay safe all, be kind to each other and we look forward to seeing you soon.
03.01.2022 Some are old, some are new but we still have stock of all of this diverse bunch of books. If you are going into self isolation and need something to read we think we should have something for you. Please stay safe everyone and we look forward to seeing you soon.
02.01.2022 It does seem that with most restaurants closed a lot of people are again cooking at home. We have a big range of cookbooks and here is a small selection including the 'Falastin Cookbook' from Yoham Ottolenghi's partner Sami Tamimi. You can see a couple of his recipes here. https://www.thenational.ae//palestinian-chef-sami-tamimi-s. Have a good day everyone, stay safe, we hope to see you soon.
01.01.2022 On Sunday we will have Buderim's Christine Velde in our shop talking about her new book 'Into the Exotic'. It is an impressive biography about her time living and working in Bali for almost ten years. We think Boolarong Press have done a great job with this publication. You can find out more about Christine here. https://www.christinevelde.com/ We look forward to seeing you on Sunday from about 9.30 am. Our price is just $34.99. Don't forget that the Caloundra Street Fair is now back in Bulock Street. Have a great night all. Stay safe.
