19.01.2022 Congratulations to Dirk and Tony along with the whole Kniffe Family Racing group on a fantastic win at the 2012 Winter Nationals. 19.01.2022 I'm surprised how often the burnout or the drifting crew post about mechanical failures, but just accept it as 'normal'. Yes, some failure is inevitable- old machinery, under engineered components, but for the mostpart these failures can be avoided. How?

19.01.2022 "But my manufacturer says to use 0w40". Have a look through your handbook. You will find something like this picture. This is the manufacturer's guide to acceptable viscosities and the ambient temperatures they deem suitable for the machine. You might find your '0w40 only' is actually '20w50 acceptable' when your average ambient temperature is above 0c. This is just one of the tools we use to ensure the correct viscosity is specified for your vehicle.

15.01.2022 There seems to be a lot of thefts at the moment, all being announced on Facebook. Anything from generators and other small engines, to cars, motorbikes (road and dirt), cars and trailers. What is going on? Is it that people are getting so desperate, or is it just that we hear about them so easily now?

Turbo skyline streeter- from the first tank noticed throttle response increase- owner reports reduced acceleration smoke and by the third tank notably smoother running. He couldn't report on economy gains other than to say $50 fuel lasts a lot longer. Another happy customer!

12.01.2022 Hello people, I have some exciting news and I need some help. The exciting news is that PM Lubricants is finally able to produce a new version of our Oil Quality Monitor. Which has been a long time coming , so this really is a going to be a big step forward for us. why do I need your help? Well in order to make sure we are getting all of the development right, I need samples of oil from any body that is using PM Lubricants and is able to stop into the office at Willawong to ...allow me to take a sample of oil. or you can take a sample and post it to PM Lubricants P O Box 313 Sumner Park QLD 4074 Yes I will get back to you with a report on the condition of your oil. Cars ,Bikes ,Trucks, Buses Competition Vehicles. Any thing that is running PM Lubricants. The more we have the more accurate we will be able to calibrate the equipment. If you are not sure what the Oil Quality Monitor is and would like more info about it feel free to call the office and I will be more than happy to fill you in, but in sort it is the basis of the Preventative Maintenance Program that allows for safely extended oil drains. It very effectively takes the guess work out of when you NEED to change your oil. Thanks all, I look forward to getting those samples.

10.01.2022 This is a chart showing viscosity and how it relates to those numbers you see on the bottle. What do you notice about the gear oils? If your average vehicle gearbox oil is 75w85, then notice the 'viscosity range' of 75w is similar to 10w motor oil. Even though the numbers are higher in gearbox oils, it doesn't necessarily mean it will be much thicker.

10.01.2022 This is a great video- a cutaway of a BMW 1000cc twin overhead cam engine. This is only part of the equation, but imagine the pressure between metal surfaces at these speeds. This is multiplied when the engine is actually working- these metal surfaces come in contact and away each other thousands of times per minute, forces working against the engine, say accelerating hard from standstill, under intense heat, the tiny film of oil between these surfaces have a huge job to stay between them, not breaking down and not separating. This gives a good idea why these valve clearances need regular checking and adjusting, but also why bikes running PM tend to last much longer between adjustments. If the oil does it's job, it can reduce wear, and therefore the need to readjust to compensate.
