22.01.2022 Due to Covid19 malarky, it's been months and what seems like a lifetime since we played a show, so believe us when we say we are looking forward to blowing the cobwebs out at the River Sessions gig this Sat. 15.01.2022 The Brazilians Mk3. We were told by a lot of people that we wouldn't be able to find a replacement for Crippsy in Cairns. The Naysayers were right, we couldn't find anyone in Cairns that was good enough and not already playing in at least 2 other bands. As it happens we had to import someone from outside Cairns! We would like to welcome mr Joel Penaluna as The Brazilians new drummer from Dec 2020. Joel is moving to Cairns from Thursday Island in December. We have already had 3 jams with Joel and he is an absolute weapon on the drums. He is currently a music teacher on Thursday Island, spent years in the Army band playing 6 gigs a week, and he had us when he told us that his biggest influence was John Bonham. Thanks everyone that applied, but there could be only one!

04.01.2022 Our beloved drummer Jeff Cripps being a man of many talents, would like to refocus on playing the guitar, leaving him less time for the Brazilians. We are left with the formidable task of filling his very big shoes (and drum drum throne). The Brazilians are rearing to go and already starting to get post COVID gigs and need a drummer that will be available to play whenever required. It would be a plum position for the right person. We have a great PA, Recording Studio with dru...ms permanently set up for rehearsals, and an advanced sound engineer in the band. We have Crippsy at our disposal for as long as required, but have decided that if we are going to have to replace him, now would be a better time rather than trying to change drummers when we have lots of gigs when the COVID madness subsides. Anyone interested would of course need their own transport, a good quality kit they know how to tune, be reliable and willing to rehearse in Gordonvale, vocal harmony ability would be looked on favourably, but not essential. We are not interested in sharing a drummer with other bands. Anyone interested please send a private msg or email [email protected] All applications held in confidence.
