14.06.2022 Took myself shopping in Evandale this morning @the.evandalevillagestore My haul included candles, soap, a dish brush, new soft wooly mittens (because I left mine in Brisbane and I feel the cold) and finally got my hands on @letsgodare book Undiscovered Tasmania, can’t wait to read it. Later in the day I shopped at the Launceston tip shop and Bunnings as you do

26.05.2022 Thinking about booking platforms tonight. I’ve been thinking about introducing a direct booking option through my website as well as Airbnb. Whilst Airbnb’s service is good, the fees (both to guest and host) are a bit hefty and all that money goes off shore. Wondering if you have any thoughts? Do you feel comfortable booking directly? Both you as guest and me as host would enjoy significant savings. Would love to hear from fellow hosts about your thoughts and experience...s with direct bookings Beautiful photo by guest @1924us #thebutchershousebothwell #thehostingmasterclass #visittasmania #THMTAS #stayinthebush #tassiestyle #discovertasmania #airbnbtasmania #bothwelltasmania #historicstays #seetasmania #antique #airbnbaus #historictasmania #centralhighlandstasmania #whisky #fireside #tailoredtasmania #hobartandbeyond #tasmaniaplacestostay #thebothwellbutchershouse #principlesofstyle

14.05.2022 Airbnb Here’s what Gemma wrote: This house is all in the details - so many to appreciate and I only stayed one night. The history, the setup, the furnishings - all complement each other perfectly. Loved the fire, the bath, the kitchen, the bed. Around the corner from the oldest golf course in Australia, which was the biggest happy surprise for my partner. Would definitely stay again.... Heartfelt thank you Gemma Beautiful photo by recent guest @jakeling

06.05.2022 In a world of white paint, plastic and shiny new surfaces I’ve always wanted the opposite Aged and weathered, time worn with stories to tell. The modern world can feel a little crazy and at times makes me anxious, sad or just longing for a calm peace. I’ve always found solace in a world not of now but of a time long before I existed, a time when surely life must have been simpler, harder perhaps, but still more straightforward. @thebutchershouse_ ... @wrenandwhippet

21.04.2022 A new fireplace for the Butcher. My friend Matteo @homesteadmandc and I have worded hard over the last few days. Our feathered friends have taken flight, brickwork lime rendered and finished with a lime wash, new mantle. Change is good, do you like the new look? after @wrenandwhippet before @1924us

23.01.2022 Your personal to do list ! 1. Tasmanian Labor is on the brink of backflipping on their public commitment to maintain rights of appeal in "Major Projects" legis...lation proposed to pass very soon. This includes "major projects" inside World Heritage Areas. Please tell Rebecca White MP that Labor should stick to their word. It's not a lot to ask! Phone and email here. https://becwhite.com/index.php/get-in-touch 2. When the Commonwealth Government call for public submissions we need to get massive numbers. Sussan Ley MP should recognise that the impact on World Heritage values is unacceptable and she can reject it. 3. The opposition to Malbena and privatising our wild places is getting stronger and bigger. Take a look at the ABC Hobart poll from yesterday, last count was in excess of 800 comments and 99% were dead against it. Have you actually met anyone who says this is a good idea? 4. Tourism operators and members of the Tourism Industry Council Tasmania can and should speak out and use their voice because sending choppers into our wild places has no public support and it's the opposite of Tassies "brand". Who does the TICT represent? 5. There are plenty of alternatives to developing the heart of our wild places. There are plenty of places on public and private land that have road access that could provide excellent tourism opportunities. 6. The Wilderness Society and Tasmanian National Parks Association Supreme Court appeal on October 2nd and you can donate to this here: https://supporter.wilderness.org.au/donation-pages/tws-tas 7. We filled the Miena Hall and the locals at the Great Lake Community Centre can put on a great spread. THANK YOU! Image: Greg French telling everyone to "Maintain the Rage" because that's what will end this! Have you written to the Parks Minister Roger Jaensch MP to express your outrage? http://www.rogerjaensch.com.au/contact-roger/ Please do. Thanks.

21.01.2022 I am not there. I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning’s hush I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry; I am not there. I did not die....

20.01.2022 As one door closes another opens; sadly our New South Wales guests have had to cancel (you know why) which is good news for anyone who was looking for a a January booking as 4 nights have become available in an otherwise heavily booked month. 18.01.2022 Morning folks....if I was in Tasmania I’d be sitting here on the front porch of my bothy in the gentle morning sun tucked up in a well worn blanket, with a cup of tea and a bowl of warming Scottish porridge topped with sweet maple syrup. How about you.... beautifully captured by super talented @lucychampion

14.01.2022 'This a fabulous place, stunning stylish decor, with a lovely old-fashioned feel, everything extremely comfortable, especially the beds. The tartan rugs on the sofas and beds a thoughtful touch. Our grandson enjoyed the biscuit jar and rabbits in the garden. The living room features a fabulous, delicate mural that reflects the Highlands landscape. Strongly recommend this delightful cottage. We will be back.' 12.01.2022 #BREAKING: Premier Peter Gutwein has announced an additional $5 million in Tasmanian travel vouchers will be released on September 30. It comes in addition to t...he $7.5 million already allocated to vouchers for accommodation and tourism experiences, aimed at boosting tourism in Tasmania. The voucher program will open 7pm next Wednesday and will be available via a dedicated hotline as well as the Make Yourself At Home website. The interest (in the first tranche), I must say, did surprise all of us, Mr Gutwein said. Gone in 38 minutes was just extraordinary. I am certain there will be incredible demand for this again.

10.01.2022 Spring and Summer days are longer here which means more time to explore, I know some lovely hidden gems around the Highlands, short drives to mysterious places, just ask me. Oh and whisky and gin tasting too, close by. But what I love to do most is soak in my bath in the sparkling sunshine
