23.01.2022 #Weightstigma is something that can impact someone's pregnancy experience. The media loves to send us messages that say minimal weight gain is ‘ideal’ and looking like a goddess when pregnant and post pregnancy is important. There is so much work to be done in this space. Sabine (@sabine.mckenzie), who has lived experience of an eating disorder, is here to tell us about how she worked on her own body image throughout her pregnancy.

20.01.2022 As September comes to an end, we'd like to say a massive thank you to the 1,259 schools and organisations throughout Australia who registered for Love Your Body Week for Schools 2020. You told us you expected to reach 279,109 young people with your Love Your Body Week activities which is absolutely phenomenal. It’s been a difficult year and one which we know has impacted adversely on young people’s body image and sense of wellbeing. We cannot thank you enough for your commitment to shining a light on body confidence and helping young people be so much more than their appearance. You can continue to access LYBW for Schools resources here https://bit.ly/36mdQXg

12.01.2022 Weight stigma can prevent people from being diagnosed with an eating disorder. Which is exactly what happened to Raja. Raja is an Aboriginal woman from the Kalkadoon and Bwgcolman nations, in north Queensland. She's a mental health/ social and emotional wellbeing advocate and began her advocacy journey at the age of 17, after having a lived experience of poor social and emotional wellbeing. Check out the blog she wrote to celebrate #WSAS2020 - You don't have to be a certain weight to have an eating disorder https://bit.ly/3kVwb1p

01.01.2022 We're back with Maddy, one of our Butterfly Presenters, to talk about online body shaming. It's never ok to shame someone based on their appearance whether it be online or face to face. We also know how harmful it is to be on the receiving end of these kinds of comments. Here' some suggestions from Maddy, on how to have a positive social media experience. If you’d like to know more about supporting the young people you work with, or have someone like Maddy speak to your students, get in touch at [email protected]

01.01.2022 Society’s definition of the 'masculine ideal' can perpetuate weight stigma in males by enforcing unrealistic expectations of what the male body should look like. We need to continue to change the conversation around what it is to 'be a man' and the physical standards attached to this concept. Its important we celebrate all people of all body types, shapes, and sizes, regardless of gender. #WSAW2020
