25.01.2022 When you’re checking the back of salad dressing to determine if it’s ‘good’ or ‘bad’, you know wellness wankery has gotten to you good. So please know this. An...y salad dressing that helps you eat and enjoy vegetables is awesome and not to be feared. Got a bit of sugar in it? So what? If a touch of processed sugar means you eat a whole bowl of vegetables (and love it so much you keep doing it), hooray! Let’s celebrate. ‘Perfect eating’ is overrated. Let’s get back to basics and focus on the stuff that matters. If you want me reality checks like this and support to be consistently healthy without dieting - try my Back to Basics App free. https://www.lyndicohen.com/back-to-basics P.S. including a source of fat in your salad like extra virgin olive oil in a dressing or avocado actually HELPS your body absorb some nutrients from the vegetables (vitamins a, d, e and k). So... make salads that you actually enjoy and soon you’ll find, eating healthily and being consistent is easier.

22.01.2022 How powerful is this image and the message by the original poster!? If only we could all focus on the beauty within. Health is not about how thin you are. It’s not about having rock hard abs or having super smooth skin without stretch marks or cellulite. It is about having a body which functions well but it is also about having a mind which functions just as well. When we are so focused on being a certain weight, achieving a certain size or looking a certain way we risk sacrificing our mental health and THAT is just as important as keeping our body functioning well, or perhaps even more so. Healthy body, healthy mind, healthy mind, healthy body. #healthyliving #notjustaboutbody #alsoaboutmind #beautyiswithin #dontseekperfection #anunobtainablegoal

20.01.2022 A friend shared this earlier this morning. Definitely worth a share. Don’t miss out on life! Live it and love it!

19.01.2022 When we offer kids snacks to get them in the car seat, to keep them quiet in the car, or even to keep them ‘occupied’ on a journey we are teaching them to eat i...n the absence of hunger. This can teach them that every car trip becomes an eating occasion, or to expect a cracker each time they whinge or cry in the car. Unfortunately, this also interferes with the critical development of independent eating behaviour and self-regulation of energy intake at future meals. Try to avoid using snacks in the car seat where you best can. When it is ok to offer your child food in the car: When it is a scheduled snack or mealtime and you are needing to get somewhere in your everyday daily tasks When they are able to sit upright in the car seat without any recline (avoiding choking risk) When it is a scheduled snack or mealtime and you are on a long highway journey (perhaps on a holiday lucky you!)

18.01.2022 Kindness! So many ways to show it and so easy to do. In recent times I have seen so many people being unkind and so judgemental of others. There are so many people trying to navigate the new world. To adjust to new ways of doing things and the ever evolving changes being implemented each day. So choose to be kind. Show kindness to those who have had to change the way they do business. To the retailers who can no longer pack your bags or who ask you to wear a mask while in... their shop. To the businesses who are making changes and may perhaps be making a few mistakes along the way. None of us are perfect and none of us are really in a position to judge the decisions of others. Whether they choose to temporarily close or choose to continue to operate their business but perhaps in a different way. Choose kindness and less judgement. #choosekindness #bekind #spreadlovenotcovid #stresslesslivemore #notjustaboutbody #alsoaboutmind @thecontentedlife See more

14.01.2022 Kids parties don’t have to be all about the lollies and other party foods. Consider offering some healthy options. You will be pleasantly surprised at how popular it will be. Children are quite in tune with their bodies and when they have had enough of the occasional treats, they will naturally go for foods that they know make them feel good. offer some fruit. Cut it up into smaller pieces, or make some fruit kebabs which look fun as well offer some veggie sticks wit...h crackers and yummy dips. They are easy for kids to grab on the run, so they can get back to what really matters at party time. Having fun with friends. sure, cake is part of most birthday parties but consider offering smaller cupcakes rather than big slices of cake. This can help to keep portions small. They are also a perfect solution in these current times when minimising contact is necessary. Let them just grab and go. most importantly, don’t stress it. Kids are going to enjoy some treats at parties. Be mindful of how much you offer but don’t restrict them. Let them choose. By combining sometimes food or the special treats at parties with some healthier options alongside them, we can help to shift the culture of over indulgence and avoid kids overloading on sugars which inevitably lead to a massive post party sugar crash. Trust me, the parents will thank you. #healthyliving #healthyeating #eatforwellness #eatforhealth #partyfoodsmadehealthy #breakingdownthenorm #slowlybutsurely #inspiringchange @thecontentedlife See more

13.01.2022 A simple question could change a life. Let someone know you care. That they are not alone. There is no shame or weakness in asking for help. Together, we can do better. Ask the question...RUOK? Not just today, everyday. You never know what someone is going through. The biggest smile in the room could be hiding a sadness you would never suspect. The strongest person who is always there for others could be battling with struggles or trauma you have never thought about. Be kind always. Less judgement, more empathy and understanding. The past twelve months have been challenging for many so it’s even more important to check in and ask RUOK. #ruokday #askthequestion #reachout #supporteachother #togetherwearestronger #kindnessmatters

07.01.2022 Veggie smuggling is a part of every parents arsenal when it comes to boosting nutrition but it is just as important to continually introduce whole veggies to kids as well. They need to recognise the whole food, they need to learn to trust it, accept it, taste it, enjoy it! Some sound advice from the experts over at Picnic Mid North Coast who have a load of tips and tricks to minimise the stress of child feeding to both parent and child!

06.01.2022 I will just park this one here...

02.01.2022 Having grown up in a sport where your body was always criticised and almost always shamed, I personally understand the long term impacts of those comments that haunt you forever and tell you that you are not enough in almost everything that you do. I absolutely love that this girl is pushing the boundaries of her chosen field. Like there should be such boundaries anyway. Everyone has a right to move and exercise and not feel judged or bullied. She is an absolute role model to so many, encouraging them to keep going when many tell you to just quit. You never know someone’s story, you never know what they are truly going through so just be kind. Always. And teach your kids to do the same. Because the world needs to change and it can change with you!

02.01.2022 As the world presents some challenges to many right now, just know that through these times we have a chance to reset. To focus on what is important to us and to truly begin to see what are our priorities are and what we align ourselves to. To lean in to each other and really understand what it means to be a good human. Show kindness, compassion, empathy and love towards others. Take one day at a time and recognise that sometimes strength is not shown through the power we s...eem to have, our position in the world or how knowledgeable we are but in our ability to remain humble, resilient and to be there for others who need to be reminded of their own strength and courage. Encourage each other. Build each other up. Because after all, we rise by lifting others. #notjustaboutbody #alsoaboutmind #strength #resilience #kindness #spreadlovenotcovid19 @thecontentedlife See more
