24.01.2022 My very active Sourdough Starter! They are refreshed about 6 hours ago and now ready for making dough for delicious bread! On the left is wheat, on the right is rye. They are made with freshly milled organic grains and got a balanced variety of microorganisms over the years!

22.01.2022 Hello Baking Friends! The Crunchy Loaf just finished the first sourdough baking workshop after our move to Brisbane! Even the SBS Radio was there and interviewed us! It will be broadcasted this Friday between 7 and 8 pm.If you are also interested in a sourdough workshop you can contact us for further details, the next available course is on 10- February near Brisbane North Lakes!

22.01.2022 Today we had our first baking course in Brisbane with great people. It was a lot of fun to bake nice German bread and Brötchen! Thank you Anja for being such a welcoming host and thanks to all participants to be so interested in the German Sourdough Bread making. It was a wonderful day. 20.01.2022 There are good news! The Crunchy Loaf is moving to Brisbane!!! From mid January on, you can attend our baking courses and learn how to make fantastic sourdough bread at home! In this six hour workshop you learn how to maintain a sourdough starter and you learn different techniques to make bread. You will get four different recipes and a sourdough starter, at the end of the day you are ready to make Paderborner bread, bread with no commercial yeast and crunchy german bread ro...lls! These courses are held in the crunchy loafs kitchen or I come to your place! As a host you can invite your friends or family and we make together fantastic sourdough bread !!!! Most of the ingredients are organic and grains are milled to flour which is used in our breads! Come and join the baking fun with the crunchy loaf, you are very welcome to contact us ! 17.01.2022 The Crunchy Loaf finally arrived in Brisbane and we can now offer baking classes in Brisbane. there are a lot of you interested in the course and I already contacted some of you in a private message. The first course is next weekend on the 3.2 from 10am until 4pm in Everton Hills. There are a 3 spots left. If you are interested in this course please let me know and I send you further information. 17.01.2022 Todays bake is a 100% organic fresh milled sourdough spelt bread, blended with some wheat and rye. Spelt is not the easiest grain for bread, it is necessary to make some different steps while preparing the dough because spelt often tends to dry out very quick. The smell is absolutely fantastic, there are all the flavours of the fresh milled grains in this bread!

12.01.2022 After a very exciting weekend in Melbourne with 3 days full of baking with 37 bread lovers we are back in Sydney. It was an amazing experience for us to see so many jung and grown people interested in our Baking Courses. A special thank to Hennig the Learning Area Leader German of the Caulfield Grammar School in Melbourne and Inga the host in Frankston for their warm hospitality.

When you have a balanced sourdough culture in your fridge, the only thing you need for fantastic bread without no commercial yeast is good flour, water and salt. Thats it. Nothing else. That is what bread is supposed to be, natural, a balanced taste of sourness of the sourdough and the different flavours of the used flour. You can mill yourself if you like and you experience the journey from grain to bread. Take the tim...e to watch the dough and smell the bread when it is in the oven! At the end, finally, you cut through the crunchy crust and the slices of the fresh baked bread are waiting to spread just with butter.....
