22.01.2022 "As part of the CAT requirements Year 9 students are asked to create a two-course meal on a budget of $5 per person choosing either an entrée/main OR a main/dessert. Working in pairs students have created their menu for a specific target audience and have created the meals in class time. Students got creative and made a range of meals they enjoy cooking and eating. Some of the entrée meals included garlic bread and pizzas. Main meals included Shepard’s Pie, Zucchini Fritters, Tacos, Wraps, Carbonara and Chicken Schnitzel. Desserts included Pancakes, Brownies, Lava Cake, Honey Joys, Fruit Salad and Pudding." - Ms. Alana Vallas Teacher.

22.01.2022 Year 11 Business Management at the East took part in a Shark Tank pitch as part of their study of Marketing. Similar to the popular show, students had to present their business idea, a product and/or service along with the 7Ps of Marketing to a panel of experts (fellow students) to gain investment into their idea. Creative ideas included jeans that can become shorts, Uber of haircuts and a bottle that keeps drinks hot or cold. Students had a lot of fun learning about marketing techniques and it was great for them to participate in a collaborative task after weeks of lockdown. Ms. Stakos, Teacher.

21.01.2022 In ConnectED our students were tasked with creating a Time Capsule to inform future students and staff of #rowvillesecondarycollege of what life was like, living through the year 2020. Time capsule items included journal entries, poems/songs, digital items and pictures with notes. We really wanted all students to get creative and think outside the box while expressing their experiences in 2020 - what would best encapsulate the year we’ve had. Said Ms. Geet Singh, Teacher, and added, the time capsule will be put away somewhere dark in a closet for someone to open in 2050. Students have to 30/11 to get their time capsule items in via Compass.

14.01.2022 Check out our year 8's & year 10's excitedly back in the kitchen cooking up some delicious dishes in Food Technology class. Our year 8's worked independently to create a chocolate fudge cake while they practiced social distancing and wore their masks and our year 10's cooked Vietnamese spring rolls. "It was absolutely wonderful to get the students back in class and hands on with their cooking, we all had a big smile on our faces." - Ms. Semple, Food Technology Teacher.

11.01.2022 Check out this amazing ‘Thank you Mural’ our #RSC VCAL students have created to say ‘thank you’ and show their appreciation to our front line workers and teachers, who helped us all through this tough year. Short messages from our students are included on the board. This mural will be hung up at school for all to see. Great job students!

10.01.2022 Code of Kindness - In Health, 7M learnt about bullying, mental health and resilience. To conclude this topic each student wrote a message of kindness to each member of our class. A picture code was chosen by each student and we didn’t include the name of the person who wrote the message. Mrs. Young cut out these messages and students received them in an envelope during the first Health lesson back at school. We reflected on the importance of kindness, how it made us feel and ...how simple it is to keep being kind to others. I was really emotional reading the messages that students had written to each other. We had only spent about 10 weeks together face to face and we also had a number of new students to the class, which we had not met in person. The reactions back in class were great to see, and even though students had masks on, I could tell there were smiles and happiness hiding behind the masks. - Mrs. Young, Health / PE Teacher.
