25.01.2022 When I first started working for myself, I was just 21 and had to become comfortable with sales and selling myself VERY quickly. I did a lot of reading, wrote a lot of notes (especially for calls with prospects), and did a lot of meetings. And I gradually got more and more comfortable with selling. What I’ve realised is that selling is not about getting someone to do what you want them to do. You can’t and shouldn’t force a "yes" because your solution won’t be right for a goo...d chunk of people you talk to. Selling is actually just about finding out what someone needs, recommending a solution (and pricing it up) if you’re a fit, and then leaving them with the information they need to make a decision (and the opportunity to ask any questions). Also, you have to become detached emotionally. These days, I expect every prospect to say no. It’s not that I’m negative - I’m a very positive person! But I have no expectations that anyone will sign up until the proposal is accepted and I have the first payment in the bank. The way I think about sales has changed a lot, and I think it’s had a huge impact on outcomes. I’ve got a lot more to say about sales (and so has Stew) so we recorded a whoooole podcast episode about it. SALES TIPS AND TACTICS In this episode, we talk about some of the good and bad sales experiences we’ve had lately. Pretty sure this’ll be useful/interesting for you if you’re ready to review and update your sales process. Or if you’re just keen for a bit of a discussion on the topic from the perspective of two freelancers who aren’t sales experts in the slightest You can listen to episode 12 on our website: https://thedigitalbrew.com/podcast/sales-tips-tactics/ OR search on your preferred podcast player for "The Digital Brew". Hope you find it useful! By the way, we’re taking a couple of weeks’ break from the podcast while we plan the next 10 or so episodes. But if you have any questions or topic requests, comment below because now is the PERFECT time to send them our way.

17.01.2022 Just look at how excited Stew is to be recording new podcast episodes with me today

06.01.2022 I was talking to some of my Brisbane copywriter buddies last week and they gave me a fresh perspective on my content. While I was busy creating and promoting podcast content and sharing fun stories, I neglected to talk about the actual *work* we do. AKA the stuff that gets us paid Rookie error? Mindset issues? Overthinking it? Yeah, probably a bit of everything. Anyway, here's a pretty little graphic that shows one of the websites we've brewed. We hooked this awesome client... up with shiny new copy and a beautifully on-brand WordPress web design to match. You can see more details on the project over on our portfolio (plus some other projects, too): https://thedigitalbrew.com/our-work/be-accounted/ If you'd like to talk about how we could help you refresh your website in 2020, I would love to chat with you! Feel free to send me a message @angela__rodgers and we can set up a call (or just email back and forth if that's more your thing). I did the math and realistically, we can only take on 9 more website projects in 2020 so if you'd like to work with us, let's start the planning process soonish. ...okay guys... did I do a good job of talking about the work we do? Or should I go for a more hard sell next time KIDDING - I don't have a hard sell bone in my body Also, if you've been avoiding sharing about your services on social media lately, let me encourage you to do a post this week that actually talks about what you do

05.01.2022 New podcast episode coming out soon all about... -Dun dun dun- Worstest website crimes!... Have YOU committed any of these crimes? *Insert judgy parrot face here* Nah, your website is probably perfect Will share more details later this week! But if you're not already subscribed, search for "The Digital Brew" so you get the next ep when it goes live :-) Angela & Stew P.S. How cute is this friendly birdface? We caught someone's lost parrot last week on our back patio and it was so gorgeous. Hope the owner is found soon!

02.01.2022 Pretty much NO ONE knows how to brew green tea correctly. I know this because of the many, many bad green teas I've drunk at cafes, restaurants, and people's houses. If you've tried green tea and hated it, I'm willing to bet that it's because it was brewed wrong.... So I asked Stew to create this infographic to help people everywhere make me better green tea... I mean, help people brew a better green tea for their own enjoyment Things you should know: Green tea is not brewed like black tea. Less is more. A small teaspoon of tea leaves goes a long way. Use a stainless steel tea strainer. You'll get better flavour and control from loose leaf. Let me know if you want brand recommendations. Jasmine green tea is lovely and sweet and light. It goes well with sweet/savoury food. It's my go-to. Don't use boiling water. You'll burn the leaves or make the tea too strong... like, instantly. If you don't have an 80 degree temp button, boil your kettle and let it sit for 5-10mins. Brew your tea for just 30 seconds then remove the tea strainer. Try it. If you prefer it stronger, try a little longer. I usually find anything longer than 1 minute starts to go bitter. Your green tea should be a lovely pale yellow colour. Add a splash of cold water if you wanna drink it real quick. NO MILK, DUH. Here's to better green tea for people all over the world (But especially me.)
