25.01.2022 I just love this account. So uplifting in this time of Coronavirus pain and isolation and suffering.

25.01.2022 We knew...they don’t like it.

23.01.2022 So this is the cuteness I have to deal with tomorrow. One is snappy on the walk, the other has a ball obsession. Should be fun. If you’d like to know more about me and how I work, please visit www.thedogmagician.com.au

23.01.2022 Some dogs really impress you with their intelligence, don’t they? Today, Lana the Dashie/foxy/Who knows what did a fantastic job learning self-calming around boundaries. Literally one correction when she tried to cross the boundary to her mum and dad who were at the end of the hallway. (Video goes a bit wonky because I took myself around the corner so she couldn’t see me either) Her senior mum and dad called me because Lana would do sniper dashes from under the table and sna...p at visitors as they were coming and going. She had a snap at me when she thought I wasn’t looking and I jumped right on it. I was very firm with her energetically and although she fought it a little, she became apologetic and sweet very quickly. The sniper dashes are just a habit she’s developed because she’s uncertain and insecure. A dog only has their mouth to protect themselves, so you can’t blame them for using it. Lana did extremely well in our session today and I’m hopeful of good news from her mum and dad in the coming weeks. She’s a lovely girl. Dog troubles? www.thedogmagician.com.au

20.01.2022 Tiny little fluffer Shilo was a barking, lunging nightmare on the walk; that was the main reason I was asked in to help. It’s very common for fearful, insecure dogs to become apparently aggressive it’s simply a habit of self protection I’ll get you before you get me. We swapped Shilo’s harness for a British slip leash, and asked her to walk beside or behind her mum, not in front. By mum taking on the Pack Leader role, Shiloh felt protected and could relax. So off ...we went to Biggera Waters Esplanade where there was lots of colour and movement and she was a happy little vegemite. Her mum says she’s been perfect on the walk ever since. Shilo for the win! If you’d like to know more about me and how I work, please visit www.thedogmagician.com.au

18.01.2022 Q: What do you get when you cross a Collie with a Lhasa apso? A: A Collapso - a dog that folds up for easy transport.

13.01.2022 Look at the love on this Staffy x Rosie’s face for her friend Deedee the dashie. Relationship goals, right?

13.01.2022 Agression to other dogs. It’s not an easy fix, and if that’s your dog’s issue, you need to keep an eye on your dog forever, basically. I’m prompted to post this because today, my nervous-aggressive border collie Apache has been doing quite well around other dogs. However, this evening he got wound up by a dog hysterically fence barking. He was still excited when we passed a man walking his senior German Shepherd. Apache immediately lunged at the dog, growling. When I correcte...d him, he redirected to me, so I had to hold him off with the leash up in the air, so he was up on his hind legs. I was fierce with him and he calmed down quickly. We walked quietly home after that, no problem. I didn’t take it personally it wasn’t me he wanted to bite, he was just excited and he wanted to take on whatever was handy. But he has big teeth and if he had got hold of me, it would’ve hurt. If you have a nervous-aggressive dog, always stay calm and be vigilant. www.thedogmagician.com.au

11.01.2022 So there was this. Razor is a 20 month old Rottweiler/English mastiff. His dad and mum were using a big choke chain on him to no availhe’s a really big boy and he was pulling them off their feet. They came to my place to pick up a British slip leash and I helped show them how to use it in the Mexican Halti mode. Razor fought valiantly against this new tool, but in the end he surrendered. His mum was then able to walk him calmly, which had never happened before. ...Razor is not even full grown and is a very powerful dog with a high prey drive. His mum and dad have an obligation to have him completely under control, so he’s safe to have out in the world. Getting the walk right is a great start, but there’s lots of work ahead for them. 08.01.2022 Can you see the difference? It’s subtle, but it’s there. The first image is before I saw little Shilo, a barky, bitey, apparently aggressive 7 yo rescue. She had been impossible to walk, growling, barking and lunging at everyone and everything. The second image is later in the day, after I had worked with her in the morning. Shilo isn’t aggressive, she’s just very scared. She’d gone through quite an upheaval before coming to her new mum and that had just totally unsettled... her. She responded very quickly to calm, quiet leadership, which her mum has committed to taking on. We had a beautiful quiet walk with her at Biggera Waters Esplanade, lots of people and dogs and birds and noise and she was perfect. I’ll post the video later. Frightened or anxious dogs really need to know where they stand in the pack and they need to know who the leader is, so they can follow and relax. Love is important, leadership is even more important. If you’d like to know more about me and how I work, please visit www.thedogmagician.com.au

05.01.2022 Apache got washed. He looks like a slightly surprised Russian babushka...

02.01.2022 UPDATE: I was stupid to post this. It never occurred to me in a million years that people would take it seriously and honestly think I would abuse a dog so that he would bleed. Razor had a slight scratch from his own nails. I could delete the post because of all the shock horror, but I’ll leave it to remind myself that not everybody knows me and not everyone knows I would never hurt a dog. - Dirt and blood. That’s what you get when you wrangle a rather large, intact Rot...tweiler/Mastiff who didn’t know how to walk respectfully on the leash. It’s his blood by the way, not mine. He was scratching at his face to get the leash off his nose. It was very minor, he’s a massive dog with a high pain threshold, he didn’t even notice it. He now walks respectfully. I’m going to have a little nap now. Video later. If you’d like to know more about me and how I work, please visit www.thedogmagician.com.au

01.01.2022 Just now: Small bully breed and small pug totally attack Apache, picking up on his weak, rather anxious energy. Owner: They just want to play! Me: *hits both dogs away with my trusty stick. That’s not playing! *dogs run off barking and snarling at each other, owner hurries off.... Me: *under breath Woman, you’re an idiot See more
