25.01.2022 The feeling of frustration is simply your body telling you that you haven’t found the right way. As parents we may have the desire to push harder when we feel frustrated by our kids, thinking, if I am more forceful in the way I deliver my message, then they’ll comply. It can work, but will leave you and your child feeling unhappy. Instead, the next time you feel frustrated ask yourself, how can I do this differently? Frustration is a great feeling that signals we have something new to learn. So listen to your body, and learn! . #emotions #eqadvantage #frustrated #frustratedparent #belikeariver #itdoesnthavetobehard #listenandlearn

24.01.2022 High EQ kids (and adults) think about what the receiver would like to receive, not what they would like to give them. They choose gifts that show consideration for the other person’s tastes and hobbies and listen to what they say in conversation to get clues on what to buy for them. 21.01.2022 Familiar with the marshmallow test? If not, google it! Kids who can wait for rewards ended up with better life outcomes, including better school results and a healthier body mass index. When a child feels safe in their environment they are more likely to plan for the future and can thereby hold off from instant gratification. Kids who feel unsafe on the other hand are more likely to grab what they can, when they can. What makes a child feel safe? You. Provide a peaceful home, one free from violence and anger (as much as possible) and be consistent with what you say and do. This goes a long way in building your child’s emotional health and well-being. #theeqadvantage #emotions #mentalhealth #feelsgood #raisingkids #marshmallows #icanwait #emotionalhealth #healthykids #smartkids

20.01.2022 What is your 8th sense? Interoception. Interoception is your ability to sense your internal organs. It is our internal organs that send us messages about how we feel; it’s our body speaking to us. Developing your child’s interoception is the first step to raising their emotional intelligence. Self awareness activities, like meditation and yoga, are great ways to increase your child’s interoceptive abilities. . #emotions #feelings #yoga #meditation #eqadvantage #higheq #smartkids #healthykids #namaste

18.01.2022 With all the uncertainty surrounding coronavirus, my girls and I decided to make a list of all the things to be grateful for. It's worth sharing with your children, because how we respond matters.

17.01.2022 Emotions are simply your body trying to send you a message. When we ignore them, sweep them under the carpet or shut down in silence we suppress our feelings and they will, sooner or later, leak out in some other way. Maybe you’ll have an angry outburst you’ll later regret, or maybe you’ll hold them inside until they manifest as physical pain. That’s why it’s important to embrace each emotion as it arises. Pay attention to it, listen to your body, feel your way through your emotion and release it with mindfulness. That’s you in action, respecting your body and taking care of yourself. . #emotions #loveyourself #theeqadvantage #higheq #realfeels #expressyourself #mindfulness

15.01.2022 Kids who know how to express themselves FEEL GOOD! REAL FEELS gives them words for all those big feelings. For confident, empowered, happy kids give them REAL FEELS.

12.01.2022 When kids are taught how to look for the opportunities in a challenge and are taught how to get themselves feeling good again, they’re less likely to spiral into a depression when they grow up and things go wrong. So, when they lose their job or break up with their boyfriend/girlfriend, they’ll listen to their feelings and know how to manage them. They’ll also have the know-how to take positive action to get themselves back on their feet. Fast. #emotionalintelligence #happiness #happykids #smartkids #emotions #feelings #theeqadvantage #highEQ #depression #jumpforjoy #kids #feelings

08.01.2022 Fear. It makes us do crazy things, like personally attack others, run for the hills...and stock up on toilet paper. If you can, catch that feeling of fear before you react. It might save you from silly decisions. The next time you notice that fear sensation, take a deep breath and try to re-engage your rational mind. Do some research, get the facts. An informed person makes empowered decisions. Once you have the information you need, then act (and stock up on toilet paper if you need to!). #fear #notoiletpaper #eqadvantage #keepcalm #rational #mindfulness #emotions #emotionalawareness #beawarenotscared #imnotafraid

02.01.2022 High empathy = successful life. Being able to place yourself in another person’s shoes is key to great relationships, a happier career...and is the only way we will come together on a global scale. These classes should be taught everywhere; from kindergartens through to high schools, to parents and teachers too. Love it.
