20.01.2022 RE: COVID-19 Hi everyone just an update. Studio Shop - I have reopened The Studio, Thursday - Saturday 10am - 3pm or by appointment. ... Kids Saturday sewing classes - These are still suspended until further notice. I will be guided by the school system. Once I see most of the kids back at school then I will recommence kids sewing classes. Felting classes - These are due to start from 5 June and all going well I will keep these as scheduled. So if you are booked into any of the winter classes, then classes will be going ahead and I look forward to seeing. Adult sewing - I will reschedule some adult sewing classes for later in the year. Ok well thats it, hope you are all well and staying safe. Its nice to be able to move a little further than our front yard! Looking forward to see you again!

08.01.2022 Hi everyone, hope you are all keeping well and keeping busy! I thought I would pass this pattern onto you from Birch Creative for making your own Face Mask. I made one today and it does fit snuggly on the face. I used quilting cotton on the outside and percale cotton for the lining. Percale cotton is a high thread count cotton, quit often used for bed sheeting material. I decided to make mine with the elastic going around the ears and used a 3mm width elastic rathe...r than tying it at the back. I have also attached a link to a site that a textile friend shared on her facebook page which I thought was very interesting. It talks about the different fabric/materials best used when making a DIY face mask. Hope you find it interesting. 07.01.2022 I just love my job! Whenever I complete an order, my system sends an automated message to say the order is complete. However, having worked in the hospitality industry all my life, I like to connect with people and so I send a personal message. Not a long one, just a little thank you and sometimes I ask what it is they will making out of the fabric they buy. Eight messages out of ten I send, I receive a message back saying, thank you and I find out what people are sewing. Sometimes people just let me know when they have received their parcel and how they appreciate it. So thank you all for taking the time to send me a message back. I just love that, it makes me smile!

07.01.2022 Re: COVID-19 Hello to all my beautiful students and customers! I know only a week ago I said that I would keep my classes going to help keep some happiness and normality. But in light of the PMs announcement last night, I feel, and with great sadness that I will have to close the Studio to classes until the government has lifted its restrictions. ... This does not mean I will be laying idle! No, No, No! I will use this time to keep creating so that when we are able to all come together again, I will have very exciting things to offer you. I may even spend this time to do up some kids sewing kits with simple instructions for them to keep creating at home. This is something I have been meaning to do for some time now, so there you go, already a positive. My online shop is still very much open and with all this "self isolation" going on, what a great time to get creative. I have some great little stitch kits and patterns along with beautiful fabrics that will keep you happy! Should you live Brisbane and wish to shop online and pick up, please prepay online and contact me in regards to pick up. This is a time to think not only of ourselves but of others as well. 05.01.2022 Sorry but the Studio will be CLOSED THIS SATURDAY 31 NOVEMBER. I am going to a Brother Cut and Scan workshop. I have had this machine for over a year now and still haven't mastered it! As great as Youtube is, it still doesn't beat going to a class in person. I always find I get so much more out of the class, being able to communicate and ask questions and solve problems immediately with the teacher.

Broadhurst was born here in Queensland but travelled extensively and was known not only for her wallpaper and fabric design but her singing and landscape painting. She was murdered in Sydney.
