18.01.2022 'Suicide' A couple of years ago, one of my oldest friends and one of the few bold brave men with whom I went through basic training for the marines with, took his own life. We were messaging each quite literally hours beforehand and I never saw the signs. I knew he'd struggled in the past, but he was one of the biggest, kindest and most gentle people I knew... apart from when we were sparring because he could hit like a damned freight train. I'd suggested Brazilian JiuJitsu t...o help him calm his mind and to all intents and purposes, it was working. Sadly, it wasn't enough and Mark (Goldie or Buff) to his friends lost his fight and will no longer brighten our lives. I had the very great pleasure of meeting his very beautiful mother last year when we had our 30 year reunion. For the rest of our years, we shall always remember... I'll see you at the final rendezvous my brother, from her till then, I hope I do you proud. My point, look after those who you love, question them absolutely everyday as to if they're ok... it might be annoying, but rather that than the alternative. RIP Mark, you never got to use that Zimmer frame my friend, when I get mine, I'll be naming it after you... I miss you. #suicideprevention #tfoi #neverstop See more

Listening to them, listening to the haunting sounds of a bugle playing the last post, listening to the sound of the people, including myself, shed a tear on what is, for me and so many others, such an important day. The 11th November, Remembrance Day. Spare a thought, a moment, a m...ere glance, even if its not at 11am, for those among you who have made the sacrifices required to put themselves in harms way to afford us all the very comforts which allow us the opportunity to walk, eat, sleep, drink in relative safety. I for one, no matter what I've done nor how it still continues to haunt myself, am eternally grateful to my brothers and sisters in arms, for it is they whom I salute on this day, among so many other days. "We sleep safely in our beds because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would harm us" I urge you all, to take a moment, think, enjoy the moment and give grace to those few...
