01.01.2022 Our gross motor focus continues.... Gross Motor Building Blocks (Part 1) What are the building blocks necessary to develop gross motor skills? What does my child need to develop their gross motor skills?... 1. Muscular strength - ability to exert force against resistance 2. Muscular endurance- ability to exert force repeatedly against resistance. 3. Motor planning - ability to move body with appropriate sequencing and timing 4. Postural control - ability to stabilize the body and neck to co-ordinate the limbs 5. Sensory processing - accurate registration, interpretation and response to sensory stimulation
